Yeah, this is definitely not a tour I want Thrice to be on at all. Fucking Bring Me the Horizon... LOL. one good album and a career full of crap! I never imagined they’d do such a thing.
Lead singer alleged to have physically abused his ex-wife. And he also actually pissed on a girl and broke a glass bottle over her head. He is scum.
Oh yeah I had forgotten that Oli Sykes had his own R Kelly incident. But even beyond that, Thrice and fucking BMTH are not a musical combo that should ever be touring. They are WAY above that. argh. Bring Me The... head of the person that did this. / Music News // Drowned In Sound
Thrice is going getting to play the Forum in 2019 though. These will be the biggest venues they’ve done post hiatus. Oli Sykes has always been a piece of shit FWIW
Each time they announce a new tour I say to myself, "I wish they'd tour with some smaller/newer bands I like" but then realize I can't name any that would actually fit in.
Citizen or Movements arn't gonna get Thrice new fans tho. They need a big opener spot to get in front of some fresh new ears. This is a good opportunity for that. That is 100 percent what this is about.
In one of the recent interviews Dustin said they'd like to tour with a band like Foo Fighters or QOTSA, I imagine this is a natural stepping point.
I could see them opening for Gang of Youths in Australia that would be big for them. Gang of Youths is huge over there. That band has toured with Manchester Orchestra before and Foo Fighters just recently.
I just looked up these venues. The BMTH tour is mostly in the 3,000-10,000 range with LA being the anamoly depending on how it sells. The Deftones tour was mostly outdoor ampitheaters or pavilions. They also had a smaller slot on the bill with Rise Against playing after them. If you’re doing direct capacity comparisons it could be seen as a lateral move or perhaps a downgrade in some markets, but I think it’s a good sign they’re still getting tour opportunities such as this one.
Unfortunately did not catch Thrice with the Bronx, and I've never cared for BMTH. I suppose this is a way for them to get larger exposure on this record cycle? Just seems like an odd fit. Guess I will catch them next touring cycle.
