The underoath album is borderline unlistenable to me. This is at least good to very good, just not great like I wanted
anyway designating one album to be THE album of the year every year is getting more and more annoying and useless as time goes on. there’s dozens upon dozens of albums I love that come out every year, I can’t condense it all into just one record
Totally agree with that. If I can narrow it down to five albums that I think will remain in rotation for years, I'm satisfied. Palms is still good. Enjoyed my first listen since September today.
In just the strangest turn of events that I didn’t expect this year, I just find myself not wanting to listen to Thrice. At all. I can’t really pinpoint the reasoning, but I think maybe I’ve just burnt out on having a “favorite band” and I just need to relax and go back to a season of my life where I can just enjoy things casually. The hype cycles have rarely payed off in any way, and have only exhausted my enjoyment of work from my favorite artists. This is across multiple mediums, not just music. Maybe it’s my “nearly 30” age talking, but I’m just feeling a lot less concerned with so many things that used to make me excited. Or maybe I’m just depressed?
I'm in a funk right now and don't want to listen to any music at all. Not my old favorites, not new stuff, I just can't get into anything right now. And I'm someone who exclusively listens to music from my phone in the car and always has (no talk radio, no FM stations, no sirius), so now I just sit in silence on my drives haha. I guess this just happens sometimes
Finally found the Thrice x Barrier Brewing beer “We Are One”. Will try tonight and report back. I hope it’s as good as their first collaboration, “The Long Defeat”.
Anyone have an extra poster from the Seattle show? I drove like 8 hours to see it and the posters sold out before I could get one...limited to 50, I believe? One of the best shows I've ever been to and bummed I missed getting the poster from the show to remember it by.
In my recent posts regarding my frustration over modern-day music, I failed to mention that I loved ERR and Julien's latest records. Boygenius, too. Julien really knows how to capture that indescribable feeling a la Thrice. It's a shame she wasn't available for "Just Breathe," however ERR was near perfect.
"Cataracts" is the "Whistleblower" of Major/minor (i.e. an underrated/under-appreciated song that they never play live).
I hate this feeling so much. The apathy I feel is unlike anything I’ve ever felt toward music I loved. The best comparison I have is when I stopped listening to Yellowcard. But this is even crazier to me than that.
Every time I go to put on palms, something pulls me away. I don’t really understand it... it’s absolutely wild! I think it’s in the bottom half of my top 10 now!
I thought they had played Cataracts but dropped it because of lack of fan response. I remember Riley saying so in an interview. I agree Cataracts is awesome though, one of my top M/M songs that always make my playlist.
I was there and it got a huge response from me. But, yeah, most people weren't feeling it. I actually appreciated the song more after hearing it live.
Off topic but this is the only thread I’m active in... I’ve been listening to Underdog Alma Mater by Forever the Sickest Kids non stop for 2 weeks, probably one of the catchiest albums I’ve ever heard. Have a good day.
