I haven't been listening through the whole album that much lately, but I listen to Just Breathe, Branch In The River and Beyond the Pines almost daily. Everything Belongs and Blood on Blood are also on rotation.
Still debating whether I like this or TBEITBN more. I like individual songs on Palms more, but think that TBEITBN is a stronger overall album.
105.7 the point is a god damn joke lmao back when I was a teenager 93.3 was where the sick alt rock/emo was. That station didn’t last though, I remember it dying sometime when I was in high school
idk, I like the straight rock approach of tbitbn but I like the more diverse sound of palms a bit more. Both are good albums. I don’t think they will ever wow me like vheissu or beggars again, but maybe that is okay. If they keep putting out solid rock albums I’ll be happy.
I’ve never experienced the “honeymoon period” of an album more than this one. Hoping that it will suddenly re-click for me one day, but right now I just feel frustrated at not really wanting to listen to it.
Again, considering this band was on hiatus and I was worried they may not come back, I am thankful for all things Thrice. Both albums are great. Some all time best Thrice songs appear on TBEITBN and Palms. Beyond the Pines is the kinds of track I wanted before Salt and Shadow.
Oh yeah both albums are great. That wasn't a slight against Palms. Agreed though that they likely won't ever top my favorites of theirs and that's okay. Still a very consistent and good band.
I just listened to TBEITBN again (as a I do quite often). I don’t even know how this could be a thing.
Agreed. To me TBE has some of the best production on an album I’ve ever heard (esp those toms in The Window). Palms is good but I maintain that it feels under realized. Especially after seeing how disjointed the writing process was it makes sense to me. I feel like if these guys get in the same room to write the next one it’ll be a much better result. But needless to say I’m glad that people do really love this. I’m happy for any win for this band.
