There was a time when I wrote acoustic Christian music, in case anyone thought they have had a bad life
Obviously artists like what they create, that’s why they make it. With that said, I think it’s a little gauche to list your own band as one of your favorites but maybe that’s just me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I personally don’t even know if I’d be able to listen to my own band. Maybe if I was just playing guitar but definitely not if I was singing.
I don’t get why Mike has to take every possible chance he gets to shit on Artist. Like, we get it. You hate it.
Okay, I'm gonna try and give you some advice here. You should try listening to more music. Yes Thrice is a great modern band! There are also a ton of other really good modern bands out there. You like Thrice? Try Radiohead. I have never been big on them myself but that has nothing to do with their musicianship. They are a good talented band who is still making quality music! Or try Deftones, who are super consistent and good at what they do. Saying that Thrice is the only good band out there these days is not true at all, even with music subjectivity in mind. Try looking harder.
This thread: 1) Mike J says a bunch of controversial opinions. 2) People fall on him for said opinions. 3) Mike J goes away for two weeks because he doesn't feel welcome here. 4) Mike J comes back and repeats the same opinions that got him shit on in the first place, for no apparent reason. 5) Repeat Steps 2-4 indefinitely. I thought people were being way too hostile towards him, but at this point it just seems like he's looking for it...
Compared to TBE and M/m, Dustin and Teppow did significantly less acoustic performances during their downtime on tour.
Radiohead was part of the '90s bands umbrella that I mentioned. There's not a single band that's originated in the 2000s that I remotely care about and it's not for a lack of listening. But, I'm glad I grew up in the greatest decade for music, as well as pop culture.
lol. It’s a little depressing I left the thread of a band I like on my own website. But then I came back to read a little and oh my god.
'grew up in the greatest decade for music, and pop culture' but wont engage with music, and probably pop culture, of the subsequent decades which undermines how can it be considered the greatest if its the only one you actively engage with. There is so much out there nowadays worth your time, you've just got to find it.
I don’t listen to a lot of newer bands... but it’s not because I think they’re not as good or anything. I’ve just chosen to focus on what I like already. Coupled with the amount of other media there is, I just don’t have the time to fully engage with new bands at this point. I don’t assume the quality about any of them.
Why are you like this? Before the apologists come with a typical "you're so mean to him!!11", it is a genuine question. I'm trying to understand if you're trolling or if it's part of a schtick.
I don't want to have to leave the thread just because of one person's behavior, no offense to anyone who does this, but this thread* is usually a nice place with actual discussions going on. Because this is him:
And I never dump on you either. I'm just saying that repeating the same things that got you crap clearly won't do you any good and I don't understand why you keep doing it.
Mike J, you're not a victim, don't pretend otherwise because I've seen people driven off this community for far less. Before I continue, I was mostly an outsider in this thread so I'm not biased. I was one of the first ones to think that people were being hostile towards you, but at this point I, and probably many of us, have noticed the patterns in your behavior. You're not learning anything when someone calls you out, and instead of self-reflecting, you use pity to get our attention, which is a huge red flag. It won't work forever if you keep perpetuating this underdog/contrarian complex. And I didn't even start to touch the creepy series of posts about Drew the other day, or the constant condescension like the use of degrading terms such as "newbie", that of course show how superior you feel over others, and those are just the examples I have in my mind right now... but I have something else to do with my time. I hate myself for lashing out at someone I don't know personally but we shouldn't have to coddle you. I'm simply describing the off putting tone that comes out of most of your posts, and sharing my feelings because reading them makes me uncomfortable. I doubt I'm the only one who feels this way. I'm trying not to come across as harsh but it's difficult because you automatically got a legion of people blindly defending you without understanding the context behind our frustration. Not aimed at you this time, if so many people are blocking an user, proclaiming that they're leaving the thread because of them, and even Jason is openly mocking them, where's the moderation? And you wonder why I want to visit this place less and less as time goes on. And before someone comes at me with this strawman: No, blocking shouldn't be the first or the only option in a situation like this, but it might be a better discussion for another thread. There, I said it. An unusual post for me but I had to get this out off my chest. I'm gonna prepare my lunch. Have a blessed day everyone.
