I think the reason I love Beyond so much is because it reminds me a lot of Disarmed. Both very subdued/somber closers.
Oh yeah, for sure. Happens all the time haha. Only brought it up cause it explains partly why one reminds me of another! I don’t mind the similarity and wouldn’t slight Dustin for it at all
Palms will almost certainly be in my top 20, probably top 10. Right now my top 5 would probably be: The Armed - Only Love Fall Out Boy - MANIA Lucy Dacus - Historian PBTT - Wait For Love Saba - Care For Me
Palms would be top 10 for me likely. Parquet Courts (especially) and Amen Dunes records are both really stellar. Arctic Monkeys and Beach House put out good records. Not to mention Kanye’s albums.
Definitely. It’s the only hip hop release this year that’s really stayed with me, but I think Noname might join it.
I heard Palms four times yesterday. I hardly ever replay an album that much in a day, so I was floored. Already excited to give this more listens, so it's definitely gonna be a top 5 for me. Reading through some of the thread I was surprised people found this a bit underwhelming. The shift from My Soul to A Branch is enough to keep me on my toes and the overall flow is great.
Thrice Panic! at the Disco Fall Out Boy Hawthorne Heights Senses Fail Honorable mentions: The XCERTS, Underoath, Kacey Musgraves, The Fratellis, Dashboard Confessional.
Also Reidi by Black Foxxes is still up there for me even though I haven't gone back to it in a little while.
Have you listened to Joey Purp or Nickelus F? Those are my other two favorite hip hop releases, got a few others I’ve liked but not as much as those two plus Saba and Noname
