My Soul sounds like Ghost Stories-era Coldplay to me. Everything Belongs sounds like Caspian at their most joyful.
After the hiatus, idk I felt like a part of me was missing.. I think with this and TBEITBN, I've just felt soo happy to have this band back in my life again. I don't think every song is a career highlight, but these guys are incredibly consistent and write music that covers a ton of ground, genrewise.

On Riley's podcast, he basically called out the fans for their critiques re production, marketing, songwriting, etc. He sarcastically remarked that they'll crowdsource their next record so that the fans can write, track, mix, master, market, etc. their music. That way, everybody is happy. Once the bit ended, he said that they'll keep doing whatever they want to do regardless of what anyone says.
Yikes. That's unfortunate. He's probably responding directly/only to those who expressed those sentiments in the most annoying/ignorant way possible... but this definitely comes off as a "get off my lawn" moment for Riley.
I know most of y’all probably ordered the vinyl and all that shit but if you’re just a plebe, like me, the Target copy was $8.99 and came with a small poster
I feel like the band has always done whatever they wanted, so those comments are nothing new. I do echo that it feels a little cringey making those comments the day your album drops. The people trash talking the album probably mostly people who "liked" the band on social media and just complain that their old stuff is better. I don't know why they would be taken seriously.
imagine putting your heart and soul into something and people trash it and tell you your old stuff is better. whether or not that's true - it's still shitty to hear and of course will lead to those (valid) comments by Riley constructive criticism is different than telling a musician that they suck or their old stuff was better.
