Ok, I have no real confidence in a lot of these. In most cases, a top two emerged easily, whereas narrowing down the third was brutal. IC To What End? Something I noticed on the pre-choruses to Just Breathe: But I wanna feel the ocean's spray Drink in the sun as it surrounds me But I wanna feel the wind's embrace Each blade of grass between my fingers Water. Fire. Air. Earth.
I won't do IC and TIOS because I hardly ever listen to them. It's pretty funny how different this looks from just a few years ago. My Soul is perfectly placed behind Everything Belongs. That transition is great! It slows down the tempo and makes the groove of My Soul really stand out. Fuck me I love My Soul. It is already one of my favorite songs they've done...

Part of what I like about Hold Up A Light is its role as a transition song. I love the transition from Branch in the River to Hold Up a Light, and then again from Hold Up a Light to Blood on Blood. You really feel the immediacy of the intro to Blood on Blood after that stretch. But if Hold Up a Light were shorter, say, around 2 minutes or so, I think the impact would be even better. Blood on Blood's arrangement is so well done. Very Radiohead-inspired, almost reminds me of Jigsaw Falling Into Place. I hope in the future they approach more songs with this idea of exploring instrumentation. And this album flows so damn well. The guitar/bass tones are insanely good. In the past I've usually been annoyed by some of their tones but this is a band with a perfected sound.

saw this on FB and wanted to share here. Wether it was intentional or not, I love the nod to TAI in the pre-choruses on Just Breathe - But I wanna feel the ocean's (water) spray Drink in the sun (fire) as it surrounds me But I wanna feel the wind's (air) embrace Each blade of grass (earth) between my fingers

It's been driving me crazy what the final chorus of Only Us reminds me of and now I do, it kind of reminds me of the outro of Plea by Say Anything. Similar chord progression and tempo maybe? Man this album is great, I've been playing it non stop. Just Breathe makes me think of something Eisley could've pulled off and Everything Belongs sounds like if Coldplay met Go Radio if that makes sense lol. Lots of cool influences and a great variety of sounds on here. I also just came out of minor surgery so I'm blabbering on while on propofol heh
YES. I literally just said that to my girlfriend 30 seconds ago haha. Very Pink Floyd-y guitar tones when he rings those single notes
Honestly from what I have seen of your music taste, I think you would love Vheissu. You should give it a listen.
I love it haha Gilmour and Teppei are my two favorite guitarists so combining the two is like heaven for my ears
I also love how Blood on Blood goes from Circa Survive vibes to a bridge that is very reminiscent of MGMT's earlier work
