The first 6 tracks on this album are fantastic. I just can't get into A Branch In The River and Hold Up A Light. Then, Blood on Blood is probably one of the best songs this band has ever done, and the closer is pretty good but not as strong as the rest of the album.
I can’t believe I haven’t cracked yet to listen. I just really want my first time thru to be off the vinyl in my music room through my Technics speakers. I haven’t even listened to The Dark yet.
To the guy who asked, do not listen to live material as your first exposure to the greatest band ever. Start with Vheissu and become current. Then hit Illusion and Artist.
I agree with not starting with live stuff. I’d recommend Beggars, Vheissu, Artist, and To Be Everywhere Is to Be Nowhere I think in that order.
If no live stuff, def don't jumble up their albums. Going from softy Beggars to hard and shredding Artist would be so random for a first time listener haha. Start at either Illusionist or Artist and go forward.
The evolution from Vheissu until now must be appreciated. The changeup on Beggars will hit harder because of the variety of sounds that Vheissu and TAI brought us.
So... y'all are saying I could start mostly anywhere by the looks of things. I've seen TAITA and Vheissu talked up by a lot of people whose opinions I respect (both here and elsewhere) so I may as well start with those two. Artist first.
I implore you to start with Vheissu until you're current. Then, conclude your efforts via Illusion and Artist.
Mike is weird. mike doesnt like artist. mike is still cool bc he played bass on a backstreet boys record. you do what you want
I've seen all their records mentioned as potential starting points over the last page or so, you guys really have opinions on this lot apparently.
