I really dig the production on most of these tracks but there are some places where the vocals feel a little buried under too much bass, but that leaves me conflicted because I also like the fullness of how the kick drum sounds haha

And maybe I'm inaccurately describing that because I know nothing about production

 

I’ve been a pretty avid Thrice fan for almost 15 years now. I was very bummed when / with / why the band went on “hiatus” And was super excited when they came back and with the last album, I really liked it. But the excitement for this on Friday is just not coming to me. I’ve tried listening to the three released songs a few times now and I just don’t care for them. I can’t pick out why other than the one songs intro sounds like Stranger Things and that’s not what I’m here for. Lol. I’ll absolutely be listening first thing at midnight Friday but I’m unsure about the outcome. Even though the praise is high in this thread.

 

Since when did Stranger Things, the most derivative show on television, invent synth?

the production is mostly good. still don’t understand what’s going on in the chorus of the dark.

 

It sounds like maybe a deliberate choice tbh? Maybe they wanted it to sound that way.

 

I don’t understand what happened. That group and the Dear Hunter group were always the top tier of band groups in terms of quality of discussion/lack of total jackassery and now it’s becoming unbearable (Dear Hunter group is still good though)

 

I think it’s deliberate, sounds like the drums were mic’d in a large hall.

 

Really? I'm having the exact opposite experience there. Every time someone respectfully says they're not a fan of some part on Palms, they get chewed out by the masses. Feels like a cult, tbh. Really makes me miss the OG boards and the boreds.

 

This reminds me of the Saosin message board and how like 90% of them hated everything that the band did after Anthony left the first time and Cove joined. I was one of the few people there who actually liked, let alone loved the Self-titled album.

When it is uncool to talk about a band on their own message board, you know it's a pretty toxic community.
