"A Branch in the River" is interesting. Vox sound COMPLETELY different from the earlier tracks. The song seems sort of reminiscent of *almost* DC hardcore stuff, maybe? Like almost Minor Threat-ish. Definitely showing a punk influence I didn't notice in recent abums. Oh, and when the breakdown hits around 3:20 - oof, all the instruments sound great, but especially Ed.
Imo, "Hold Up a Light" is weak on first listen. Also, the transition between it and "Blood on Blood" is odd. That said, the latter is sweet.
Something about vox in "Blood on Blood" reminds me of the outro of "Red Telephone", even though the former isn't aggressive like the latter.
Instrumental break in "Blood on Blood" (2:10) - WOW! Is that a scale being played on a harp? My sense for such things is bad, but whatever it is it is magical and unlike anything Thrice has done before. I love how this song moves.
That didn’t mean that you couldn’t keep posting. I just don’t want to be spoiled. So I’ll scroll past your posts.
I’m so excited for Friday. Any talk about me being less excited than normal was the result of me being engulfed by Nearer My God.
I don't know if this is kosher but the album is available for purchase here.. Thrice - Palms [LP] | Dearborn Music You have to buy the mp3 album and then they give you a link. I'm listening to it and enjoying it so far!
