My wife was the one who had to point out to me that this drops the same day at Taylor. I’m devastated that their chance to chart is ruined now. (I also can’t believe how much great music is hitting these next couple of months.)
Yeah unless they get the casuals that loved black honey to care, or the fans they had around 2005 lol I think they deserve more recognition but they do have a pretty good cult likr following
lol ok but this impacts me personally because thrice and tswift are my two faves and i usually dedicate the first two or three days to digesting a new album from them without really listening to anything else
This is also me. Sounds like I'll be flipping back and forth between both for that weekend. I prefer giving both of these my full attention with new releases, but no way I'm not listening to both on rotation haha.
I am driving out to the city that weekend for turnstile so they'll definitely be my soundtrack along with taylor swift
totally! i need to listen to tswift so i can participate in the last bit of monoculture civilization has left, but i haven't been this excited for a thrice release since tbeitbn. i'll probably listen to showgirl at midnight and then do my morning walk with h/w.
This is me and my wife. We’re huge Taylor and Thrice fans. It’s gonna be a weird weekend in October. (My previous post about Thrice and Taylor competing for the charts was a joke.)
As expected, Gnash is not an indication that the rest of the record is a return to all-out heaviness. But Riley does add: "All the songs have moments where they get kind of gnarly."
i mean usually no other albums i care about as much as tswift or thrice release on the same day as each other. only other band that i do the same for would be jimmy eat world.
1. Blackout (3:09) 2. Gnash (2:43) 3. Albatross (4:30) 4. Undertow (4:10) 5. Holding On (3:36) 6. Dusk (1:25) 7. The Dark Glow (4:57) 8. Crooked Shadows (2:40) 9. Distant Suns (3:53) 10. Vesper Light (5:46) 11. Unitive/West (6:43)
Even though I love thrice getting heavy I know i'd be craving some experimental stuff so I don't mind if the whole album isn't heavy some airy or water electronic stuff would be cool if they ever decide to bring it back.
General question for whomever: Do you like when the interviewer inserts their story and their life into the conversation? Or do you prefer them to keep the focus solely on the interviewee?
The easy solution is to give both equal attention with a playlist like this Thrice - Track 1 Taylor - Track 1 Thrice - Track 2 Taylor - Track 2 and on and on OR have one album per earbud though it works better if they have a similar amount of songs and runtime
Capsule!? Everyone should have their face melted with these Obviously I don't expect the album to be full blown heavy, but a couple sludgy and mathy moments would be welcome
Generally, no. It can be done well, but it's hard not to sound ingratiating. People often wind up on their personal soapbox, or else sharing in search of validation from their interviewee rather than helping the listener hear more of the person they came to listen to.
