Over the weekend, I went on a long walk and listened to /West for the first time in a bit. Man, it's good.
I've put on a different Thrice album every morning on my drive to work this week. Super, super consistent band. I enjoyed Palms when it was first released but really enjoyed diving back into it- especially when I feel like it's a 'minor' Thrice album?
It’s a very unique situation for a band’s “worst” album to also have possibly their best song on it lol. I’d personally also put Blood on Blood up there too. I love how the bass evolves as the song progresses and really drives it home with the switch up on that last chorus.
palms has like four songs on it that are really great but i dont think any of em are on the level of even like vesper light let alone the earlier songs blood on blood is the best of them though i think, that harp is so sick
I find it interesting how they adapt their set to the headliner's audience. When supporting Deftones or any other heavy band, they 'll do their "power set." But with Jimmy, it's more emotional, rock-driven fare. Hurricane Holding On Stare at the Sun In Exile Black Honey Albatross Red Sky The Artist in the Ambulance Stay With Me Vesper Light Of Dust and Nations
theyve played vesper light nonstop since this has come out it seems and that rules, i love it when a band knows how good of a song they have
the ‘smooth’ setlist in boston was GREAT. of course, i woulda seapped a few tracks. preferably adding melting point of wax, burn the fleet, or long defeat.
been a while since i hit this and its still hittin me great. whole run from the dark glow on is just home runs. crooked shadows took a bit to grow on me but their chemistry is super tight, that bassline is so sick
It definitely feels what maybe they were trying to do on a song like “hold up a bud light” but cooler
besides that closing combo though i have pretty few other takeaways lol. a branch in the river and just breathe are kinda the other ones i really like
