Talked about Pile though, their album "Sunshine and Balance Beams" actually resembles stuff like Colour Revolt at times, worth checking out for sure (and I'll probably have to go back to some of their older stuff too)
One day I'll learn to never pre-order deluxe editions of anything. Delays like these are way too commonplace now.
I’m happy to have streaming in the meantime but I really listen to an album when I have the physical copy. I like this album a lot just haven’t really sat with it yet. Delay is a big bummer, gonna hold fast hope it’ll be beautiful when it gets here.
Looks like they just got announced as support for My Chem at the Hollywood bowl next year. Super rad.
Gosh, it's so tough for me to pick from this record. Between Albatross, Undertow, Dark Glow, Distant Suns, and of course Vesper Light, there's so much to love here. Really incredible effort.
East is a very special record for me, but I think West is just starting to edge past it in terms of how much I'm connecting with it. I have several songs from it stuck in my head on any given day.
i think this is both more consistent and reaches higher highs than east, so i would rank this above it too, but they're pretty different aesthetically so i understand it in either direction. both are top 5 thrice albums for me regardless
East came out at a time I had never been more depressed in my life. I really like it now, but I wasn’t able to enjoy it at first because I was dead inside. In a better place now and I found West to be incredible to me right away. So it’s easy for me to say West is better. But given the context of East’s release, it’s difficult to fairly compare.
West is my favorite post hiatus record with East following behind it. Both top tier but this one hit me both more immediately and held me longer.
i don't personally think their more ambient-y/soundscape type ballad songs work at all and i don't really think the stuff like gnash works either. the stuff in the middle of the two (holding on and distant suns, especially) really nails what this band is kinda singular in doing so well.
Surprised they haven't done a skate deck sooner, honestly, for as much as Teppei and Ed enjoy it. I'm not the target audience but that's very cool.
