Just got back from the Atlanta show. I caved and looked at the setlist and i got mostly that, but in a different order. Some surpises on how it was sequnced and shuffled and if i recall (hazy right now), some songs dropped / added. GREAT show. Fantasic live, especially vocals.
That was the best sounding show I have ever been to at the masquerade. By far. Fuckin incredible mix.
Yeah, I 100% agree. Best that venue has ever sounded, and one of the best I've heard the band sound. What a time.
When I saw Thrice live for the first time in 2009, on their tour with what was my favorite band at the time, they made my “favorite band” look like a garage band. Thrice was so damn good that I went from a casual fan (really loved Beggars) to a mega fan who dove into their whole discography. I’ve seen them live more than I’ve seen any other band. I think I’m about to see them for the 8th or 9th time. I’ve lost track to be honest.
They’re the speakers we had in the living room when I was in high school lol. I’ve been meaning to upgrade but they’re pretty solid for bedroom listening.
The Orlando show was fucking insane. I don’t know how these guys keep getting better. Also, this is my first show in 4 years and I feel like I’m aging like milk. It just ain’t the same at 36 than it was even 10 years ago. Please start playing shows at 4 PM so I can get to bed at a reasonable time.
that was the best part of the acceptance 20th anny show last weekend in brooklyn. show was over before 10.
Agreed and that song was a stand out moment live. The end of the song with just the guitar chords was perfect. Everyone was locked in and attentive, and it sounded so good tone wise. It's why I often hate when my favorite bands that have 'quiet' moments aren't headlining, as people always talk over the openers and ruin those intimate moments. It was great to get this moment the way it was intended.
The Dark Glow seems to be a standout due to that as well, the quiet moments in that song are already among my favorites in their deep discography
My thoughts on The Dark Glow definitely grew tremendously after seeing them play it live, same with Crooked Shadows.
Seeing Thrice this Wednesday in Baltimore, MD, including an in-person interview before soundcheck. Stoked!
For anyone that is super bummed they are missing this tour (like me) this kind soul filmed the whole set in Orlando in very high quality. Also my god they sound damn fantastic. They are on top of their game. In my pipe dreams, would love another live dvd/cd where they played the whole new record/did an era’s set with songs potentially being “reimagined” like they did with so strange I remember you back in 2004
I should bust that House of Blues DVD back out. That's a good set. I should bust out Thursday's Kill the House Lights DVD while I'm at it.
Please ask Dustin if he's written any songs based on the Stormlight Archive, and if so, have we heard them yet.
Really good indeed. Mix was on point 'live' and it seems it translates really well to a recording as well. The only negative I had was that my venue wasn't sold out so the upstairs was closed. Would have loved to have seen people packing the balcony too, and it also makes the downstairs a little easier to navigate when people can go upstairs (only thought of that since this is filmed from up top at whatever venue this is). Plus you know, great band... love to see the people turning up for that.
