im really excited for unitive west in particular, unitive east is lowkey an album highlight for me, super cool stuff imo
I am finally getting around to watching this. Around the 31:00 mark, Dustin is talking about the re-recording of TAITA and says something like "there's something fun about re-encountering it on our own time... that's cool...I don't know exactly how that's gonna work out over time, especially with...I have an idea of what we will be up to next and I don't know how much it will influence that but I do think in general it kind of re-introduced certain modalities that could become things we play with again." Hm. What will they be up to next?
This is the most in-depth interview regarding their songwriting that I have seen in quite a while: After 25 Years and 12 Records, It’s Time to Give Thrice Their Flowers It is great! BTW, "Vesper Light" strikes me as a great mix of "Blood on Blood" and the best of what "Open Your Eyes and Dream" could have been (I think that track falls flat).
This is pretty accurate imo. Love how moody this album is. Really haven't been this immersed in a Thrice album in a while. Really good stuff here.
What if this leak also had the “this promotional stream is brought to you by Vagrant records” or whatever the Beggars leak had?
Fuck this opening track. Can’t wait to scream this next month. Edit: A bit further in now. This knocked the wind out of me. But what if all we thought was darkness Was instead the truest light? What if all we feared was empty Was the fullness of our life?
A pretty good, detailed review: Album Review: From Beginnings to Endings and Everywhere in Between, Thrice’s ‘Horizons/West’ Does Not Disappoint - First III No Flash
I was gonna wait on this leak but just got some really sad news so fuck it we're Thricin in this house tonight
not much really grabbed me at all in the first half of this first listen, but damn that Distant Suns/Vesper Light combo is something. almost getting some Tool Schism vibes from the bass part in Vesper wish the rest of the album was more that, less jock rock but hopefully it'll grow
More diverse than, or even as diverse as East, y'all say? Wouldn't expect it from the 4 shared tracks. Also the production seems a bit lo Fi and gritty compared to East or is that misperception on the early 4?
personally think East is a lot more diverse, every track there had something cool and unusual for them going on, but hey what do I know
i am for sure hoping the singles are all of the more linear cuts. albatross / holding on are great but id rather the album not be riddled with them
These snippets from another interview got me curious as well I wonder if the broad idea for the next album Dustin alludes to already having in mind is a continuation of The Alchemy Index... see you in 2027/2028 to find out then?
Both albums are incredibly diverse imo. West just feels like a tighter album experience, at least initially.
