Sounds like we're getting some considerable diversity across the songs on /West. Thrice: Horizons/West - RockHard Thrice: Horizons/West (Review) Thrice – Horizons / West (Epitaph, 03.10.2025) Learning that "Blackout" is "dark, anthemic" and "Undertow" is "atmospheric" has me hyped. What is said about "Crooked Shadows" has me worried it'll be this album's butt rock track a la "Hold a Bud Light", "Blood on the Sand", etc.
I love Thrice, but those songs are always bad, with Hold up a Light being the absolute worst of them.
I love Blood on the Sand. I don’t enjoy Hold Up a Light or Wake Up at all. Blemishes on otherwise excellent albums.
Yeah blood on the sand rules. I wish they would play it live more. hold up a light and wake up are fine but generic at best. I’m very excited for Friday
hold up a light is abysmal but wake up and blood on the sand are great. starting a discography run now in anticipation of friday.
I know it is not the case but those kinf of generic stadium rock songs they throw in like "wake up" and "hold up a light" feel like thrice chasing a black honey rock hit even though they tend to be some of their least favorite songs and drop the overall quality of their album
Review: Thrice – Horizons/West Thrice – Horizons/West review: timeless elegance from one-time post-hardcore wonderkids ALBUM REVIEW: Thrice - ‘Horizons / West’ | The Soundboard The two new tracks are up on dab yeet and Thrice's YouTube channel.
New songs are on Apple Music, but at this point I might as well just hold off. See you all on Friday!
I just learned about it a few days ago. I felt the same way. It seems like it allows you to stream (and maybe download?) tracks from some streaming services without subscribing. I just went to the url in a browser and tried playing the new tracks.
Dark Glow not really registering with me on first listen. Really like Holding On. Like the energy Riley is bringing on that one a lot.
dark glow was a little hard at first. requires a couple listens but I think I get the vibe. this album is 4/4 so far. I'm so glad I preordered the deluxe before it sold out.
That New Noise interview is up now. https://newnoisemagazine.com/interv...-guitarist-dustin-kensrue-talks-horizons-west
My exact thought last week when they announced these would drop today. Also, part of the reason I am going to hold off on listening before the album drops.
