Some nice little nuggets coming out of the thrice FB group about the record that have it early, won’t post screenshots since it’s a private group but some of the tidbits include: -Vesper Light is 10/10, up there as one of their favorite thrice songs ever -Crooked Shadows is a faster pace song -Couple tracks reminding them of Alcchemy Index -mix of everything you love about thrice -Most atmospheric moments from the band -Mellow atmospheric song (in vein of open water
I'll be intrigued to hear that conversation! Would love another good interview or two before the record's out, but we're a mere 3 weeks and 3 days away, in any event.
I loved reading some of the hype so far! I can't wait to hear this thing, also hopefully @Jason Tate posts some first impressions on the album like back in the absolutepunk days
Hey, a geriatric needs something to go along with the morning bran flakes and prune juice. In my day, we used to tune the dial to Music TeleVision to view ye old music videos.
Love Albatross, Gnash is okay. Never seen these guys live and just got tickets. I slept on a lot of their stuff to be honest - very surprised at how experimental some of the albums are. I've ran through just about everything the past week and dig most of it. No idea what they typically play live and if there's any albums / songs that they avoid.
Great choice to see them live! They're not very chatty between songs but they absolutely crush it whenever I've gone. They don't play a ton from before Artist these days, and Major/Minor and Palms don't seem to come into the rotation often. If you're trying to get familiar with what they'll play I'd go by recency and then give Vheissu a few extra spins.
Average 2025 setlist: Thrice Average Setlists of year: 2025 | setlist.fm Average 2021 setlist: Thrice Average Setlists of year: 2021 | setlist.fm I wouldn't put much stock in 2020, 2022, 2023, or 2024, because in each of those years they were performing an entire album in full regularly, or gearing up to do so - Vheissu in 2020, Illusion in 2022, Artist in 2023, & Beggars in 2024. I think I've seen them seven times after the hiatus. Songs they've consistently played in recent years would include Artist in the Ambulance, Of Dust and Nations, The Earth will Shake, The Long Defeat, Hurricane, Summer Set Fire to the Rain, & Beyond the Pines.
That was a fine Q&A but I don't think it had much to do with the new record, apart from what they've been listening to recently.
