Riley called Horizons an "ever-evolving" project on insta today which is curious. I'd still love to see a proper companion album to H/E. But I'm excited about whatever they're up to, regardless, especially now that they're back to being self-produced.
are we still in a vinyl shortage? unless the record's BEEN mixed and mastered already and sent for pressing, we might not get west this year. and yeah... it's gonna take more spins for me to like that chorus. musically, it's a fuckin banger tho. i did feel the same way about buried in the sun tho, and i've come around on it. so only time will tell
I’m excited for new Thrice. Albums, singles, whatever…bring it on. It’s cool to have clarification that this song was completed after. I guess with the guys building their own studio there is a freedom to make more music and changes paths. It’d be cool to get a Horizons/West, but any time a band scares me when they go on a hiatus I appreciate everything they do in a different way when they start back.
The expectations placed on this band in regard to Horizons / West and its potential release since the time Horizons / East was released, and especially since at least one of the members mentioned/teased the idea of Horizons / West, were always silly
Didn't Teppei post to IG something in the last few days about recording new Thrice material? It could be that they are currently tracking the album.
It was posted in here very recently that Dustin said the band has been working on new material not associated with H/W in the band’s most recent ama with the alliance club
Whether it's a masterpiece like The Dreamer or a masterpiece like Dead Awake, it seems that whenever Dustin experiments vocally, people don't react too well to it. But at the same time, whenever he does his usual thing, then he'll get the odd "butt rock" comment. You really can't please everyone, but I'm into anything that breaks the status quo.
Thrice is in a position where they can't please everyone in their fanbase. Some people want Post Hardcore, some want Water/Air type stuff, some want the heavy Fire stuff, some want the more butt rock sounding stuff, etc.
I don’t think there’s any band ever that’s able to please everyone in their fan base. Thrice sells out decently sized venues and still sells a decent amount of records (for the time we’re in), I’d say they’re doing a better job than most at pleasing the fans. People just hyper focus on a vocal minority
Or alternatively never play Deadbolt again and play To Awake And Avenge The Dead in its place as a staple. Thank you.
Alternatively to that alternative, play both songs back to back as their encore like they did for the Palms tour.
that's what i read too. it's easier to just release a few b-sides on digital and a second leg of the tour to pass the time rather than announce (if the album has already been done) the new album being released 9 months from now due to shortages.
Haha how many times do you think you’ll have to say this for people to get it? There’s 2 on this page alone.
