Yes, they sounded so good last night! Only bummer was Dustin forgetting the lyrics to scavengers lol. Otherwise really good set. Touche were fun too.
Lol I didn’t catch that, but my friend who’s first time seeing them was floored. Though his only criticism was Dustin’s stage presence. Which I explained to him that’s just kinda how he is, and not a whole lot of banter. Someone behind me was saying something similar. Set list was great.
Unfortunate to hear there was someone yelling Deadbolt at the UC Berkeley show during the soft outro of Beyond The Pines and flipping them the bird. Dustin called them out after the song. fuck that noise of yelling at bands like that
Chicago was kinda rowdy all show and were chanting and stomping for it for the encore, but Dustin chuckled about it when they came back out. Nothing to ^ that extent though, fuck those people.
https://reddit.com/r/PostHardcore/comments/qgzzu3/thrice_beyond_the_pines_with_dustin_calling_out/ couldn’t find the other post but someone also posted on Reddit of them flipping them off
Huh. Granted I had moved to the upper seating by the bar after Touché, but I feel like I would’ve seen Dustin call them out. Maybe it was off mic. I’ll read that post. Either way that really sucks.
yeah, right after the song you can hear him say something to effect of “even if they had song you are yelling about in the set list they’re probably not gonna play it when you’ve ruined the current mood for everyone else” https://reddit.com/r/thrice/comments/qgpzo2/why_see_a_band_just_to_get_upset_when_they_dont/
Wow it’s so obvious, and he did say it in the mic. Now thinking about it I think I might have missed it because my friend was actually in fact telling these two guys in front of us they ruined a majority of the show for him, and the girl sitting next to him due to their antics.
i see that people are getting their vinyl preorders finally. hopefully mine comes in this week. team cotton candy.
A similar thing happened in Baltimore. Instant rage from me. The only positive was they just yelled it between songs, not during one of Thrice's most beautiful songs.
I've always thought it bizarre that those types of fans will shout for the traditional-encore song all show long, knowing if they were going to play it it'd be at the end anyway. It's definitely one of the most self-centred concert behaviours there is.
fucking loved buried in the sun live. Robot Soft & Just breathe seemed a little off. Robot the bass was just way turned up...and Just breathe they seemed to play it faster than normal. Overall really good set. Crowd was pretty into both Thrice & Touche in SD
Oh for sure Buried was the highlight of the new songs for me, they killed that. Close second was Dandelion Wine.
the alliance discord is still freaking out over the beyond the pines guy. somehow more deranged that this website.
Reading that Redding post with his picture in it, and someone else who apparently was in front didn’t notice any of it either. Weird how in awe of Beyond I was that I apparently had no idea what was happening either I guess.
I have always said that this lack of communication with the crowd is what differentiates their concerts from being great to being unforgettable. That and not changing the setlist throughout a tour makes all the concerts they do the same (very good and tremendously solid), but not an experience that seems unique to you. I miss the wow factor, something that sets his San Diego gigs apart from others in Seattle, or Philly, or...
My vinyl showed up today unexpectedly. No shipping notice or anything, just dropped off on my doorstep. Not sure I really get the chromadepth 3d thing. Maybe I just have bad eyes.
In my ideal concert, the band wouldn’t say a fucking word to the audience. Just get up there, rock out, and then let us get home at a decent hour. I would make a small allowance for the band to introduce themselves and potentially announce the song names. But that’s it. Concert “banter” is dumb.
It's supposed to make reds pop out in front of blues, it's not very dramatic though. Chromadepth 3d is a "3d-like" effect.
