Yeah. I’m just super bummed. I know I’ve seen Thrice more than any other band, but I want to hear these songs live so badly. I’m also not familiar with this venue, and think I just have regular standing admission, which I’d have preferred balcony or something. We kept our distance even before Covid. Haven’t fully decided yet, but leaning toward not going. Only $65 from the presale down the drain, but I guess it’s still supporting the band.
Listening to Robot Soft Exorcism, the come down now part kept reminding me of something but I couldn’t place it - just realized it was reminding me of the Postal Service.
Did we get a confirmation of what part of the album was inspired by the Fibonacci Sequence / Golden Ration? I know some people were thinking the guitar in northern lights, but I was wondering if it’s Unitive/East with the added notes each loop. Just a thought!
This is sooooooooo good. Been listening to this at work (with my good headphones) basically nonstop over the last two days. I am just so thoroughly pleased with this band's recent output: from Palms to Deeper Wells to Horizons/East. I feel awfully spoiled.
Yea it’s a bummer, for sure. You’ll save on parking too. It’s full price due to horror nights right now.
Only song I'm not crazy about is Northern Lights, which is still very enjoyable. The word I can't let go of in describing this record is refreshing. They've been at it for a while now and I feel hunger in these songs. Edit: I'm not one for labelling, but it also feels like the most posthardcore they've been in a long time, whatever that means haha. In the same way La Dispute is for example
Strangely...I am liking scavengers more and more. Even though i way overplayed it as a single. The drum/bass pocket that swirls into the chorus is so bad ass
Also just realized, not the same tempo exactly, but Color of the Sky is what I wanted The Sky is Falling to be, in a way
I've never been the biggest Thrice fan ever but Northern Lights has elevated this band for me big time. SO GOOD!
Even if the early albums are the worst i always think you should start at the beginning (**especially** with a band like Thrice) so you can really appreciate their evolution.
Scavengers is so good. Really solid first single choice too because it has some older Thrice moments but is so tight.
I get real Daedalus/Wind EP vibes from the bridge in Dreamer, which is definitely the best part of what is otherwise a mediocre song.
I got so caught up in Riot Fest weekend that I forgot this album dropped. Ahhh only 5 tracks in but this is killer! So bummed I had to miss their set last weekend (the sun was BEATING down by their stage). Went to buy a ticket to their tour next month and shocked to see that it's sold out. It's at a venue that I assumed was too big for them. Good for them!
Personally wouldn’t want to see any band at a festival. That’s just me. I’ve seen Thrice 3x, and always indoor. Obviously with Covid it’s difficult for some people.
i’ve seen them three times, twice indoors as a headliner and once outdoors at a fest. all were good performances. it doesn’t matter.
so nice to be just fully in love with an album from this band again. the last 3 albums all have sublime moments and ideas, but this is the first album since Beggars where I'm just constantly thinking about it when not listening, having lyrics and melodies loop in my head, etc just a sincere pleasure to feel like this again and dying with anticipation for H/West
I've seen them ten times... only four times as a headliner (and one more time as a co-headliner). My preference is an indoors general admission show, but they've all been solid shows.
