Just a big meh from me on this. Think the band are no longer for me. Haven't connected with any post reunion stuff in the slightest. Love Beggars, Vheissu, Alchemy but the new stuff feels so bland to me
M/M is a weaker release by them too, IMO. Some people love it so maybe it’s just me. Listen Through Me is straight cringe though, especially the lyrics…I think that song started the division/tension and hiatus as Kensure wanted to get all up Jesus butt for a few years and the rest of Thrice was like nah bro. The band was also dealing with a lot of personal issues/family death during M/M and it seemed like they went through the motions a bit.
The themes in Alchemy Index are pretty on the nose, I wonder what they’ll do to differentiate West from East. Maybe they just had too many song ideas for one album, and it’s not really meant to be a tonal opposite. Either way I already can’t wait to hear it.
major/minor was a disappointment to me when it came out but has aged much, much better than i would have anticipated. perhaps palms will end up the same way, only time will tell, but it definitely took until like last year for me to really appreciate major/minor to the fullest extent.
i mean, whatever, if we're gonna do this i guess we're gonna do this and everyone can get mad at me artist beggars alchemy vheissu to be everywhere is to be nowhere major/minor illusion identity crisis palms\ i refuse to actually rank this yet, its been out for less than 24 hours
Loving this. Not quite as much as To Be Everywhere but could get there. Palms didn't do much for me...
Swap in the Ep for only us, the grey, the dark, hold up a light and palms is a solid B. buried in the sun and dandelion wine are my early standouts. only negative so far is it fees short. Wouldn’t mind one more aggressive banger listen number 8 commencing.
I admire the artistry behind Unitive/East and how it likely serves as a thematic bridge to Horizons/West, but I wish it was bit more accessible like Silver Wings, which makes angels cry.
