After one listen, I really like this. There's a lot to digest. The songs are mostly slower-paced and almost contemplative, but there are also some moments where the songs go really big. I've missed that on their last couple of albums. "Dandelion Wine" is a great example of this. When it finally goes off, it's just immediate goosebumps. Need to give it a few more listens, but this is probably my favorite of theirs since M/M.
Color of the sky -> scavengers is a really good way to start. Damn, he isn’t pulling any punches with buried in the sun, huh? Maybe his most direct lyrics…ever?
Still Life rules, love the guitar and bass tones and the slower tempo of it. Only made it to there before I got to work this AM. Excited to finish it out.
this definitely needs multiple listens to digest. i think i really like it. did anyone else notice that some of the vocal mixing made his voice unintelligible at times because everything else was "too loud" around it?
Well that was an unbelievable listen. Early feeling is this is top three albums with Vheissu and Beggars. I think this is the album people wanted post hiatus, and we finally got it. Also, it seems like Unitive plays the role like the final song on each alchemy EP ending East and preluding into West. Since the definition means causing or serving to unite (also works on a political level). Would be cool if the outro of Unitive was the intro to the first song on West.
I'm so stoked everyone seems to like this. I trust the forums here more than I do any review elsewhere online. I can't wait to listen a little later this morning.
