So far (1listen in) probably their best post-reunion album. The others have all had great songs and moments but this feels like the best full album
TBEITBN is a great album (and as a reunion album/post hiatus). Haven’t heard the new one yet and that doesn’t mean it’s not better, but TBE is solid.
This is a very promising first listen. Some parts I didn't love but some parts I really dig. Going to enjoy giving it another spin
Some stuff I really like here along with a few I wasn't that into. I think Northern Lights, The Color of the Sky and Summer Set Fire to the Rain were the highlights for me. Dandelion Wine also has a cracking second half.
I'm not yet sure if I like the new album more than TBEITBN (I absolutely love that album), but it's definitely their most interesting album in a long time.
I'm not yet sure on the new album. Didn't wow me on first play (first track was awesome though). Gotta sit with it some more.
I firmly believe this is one that grows on you. Third listen for me "clicked." Super excited to read more thoughts from everyone here.
I definitely plan to give this more time than I did Palms. I think I only listened to that one a few times. It's fun hearing the difference between this and The Illusion of Safety though since I've been listening to that a lot lately.
I do like that they didn't completely abandon what they did on Palms. A lot of this feels like they took what worked there, and even some good ideas that didn't quite work in execution, and built on that both by bringing in more parts of their past sound (some clear Vheissu / Alchemy / Beggars similarities here) and also pushing their sound forward. My "hot take" is that it's their best since Beggars, but I also do really like TBEITBN and most of Palms.
The first half of my first listen was in solitude with headphones and noise-canceling on. I had to start working and switched to speakers and still really like it (almost through with my second listen now) but I can't wait to do a focused headphones listen again.
palms makes more sense for me after listening to this album. the production/mixing is better here, which makes it sound like a cohesive album instead of a collection of songs, but i feel like they tried a lot of the same things. really interesting first listen, i love how different it sounds from the rest of their discography.
Forgive an out of date question, but if Apple Music still provides digital booklets, would anyone mind sending me a copy tomorrow? I pre-ordered through Bandcamp and likely won't get one that way, if they're available.
alright this is off to a very, very promising start. i already love scavengers and have heard it a bunch so ima skip for now
i am loving how clear the bass is. buried in the sun is hitting the spot. love that guitar lick when it comes in. extremely beggars vibes from the instruments/production. hearing vheissu in dustin's yelling vocals though. god damn buried in the sun just gets better and better. that's an all time thrice tune right there.
Everyone who likes the production on this one - make sure to listen to the new Kowloon Walled City stuff (Scott Evans's band).
