I don’t trust people’s random reviews anymore. Fan feedback is the way to go. They can be more critical at times but way more knowledgeable and informative.
Especially when those reviews can't get basic facts right, like that this is not self released, it's out on Epitaph.
Apparently, Thrice has talked about remixing The Artist in the Ambulance. I'm generally against this sort of thing but this could be interesting.
Supposedly the band didn’t like the mix, and they all have a more extensive background in production now to change it if they want/can. It obviously hasn’t slowed down the creative/release process so have at it. It’s definitely not just a cash grab. Also, I’ve not really heard or remember any significant complaints when the album came out or recently accept maybe a person or two.
We're not that far off from the 20th anniversary so I wouldn't be mad at a remix as part of that celebration.
After hearing his work via Horizons/East and Kowloon Walled City, I really hope Scott Evans gets the gig.
I’m guessing you work with what you got when doing these things so I wonder if the band wants to do it themselves since they seem to have their grievances and that would put it rest. Or, outsource and have a fresh set of ears skilled in that exact department so they can keep moving forward in other areas.
Every album always features one song that is along the lines of a love song to Dustin's wife. I wonder if there will be one on this album too. In the old days, there also was always one song per album inspired by a piece by CS Lewis. With the change in views post-Major/Minor, I doubt we will see that on the new one, but that'll be interesting to see too.
I personally don’t feel like they need to. Atlantic was like giving themselves a permission slip to incorporate broader sounds and instrumentation. Alchemy Index proved they could do it really well across a broader span with more variety. Nothing seems unrealistic anymore. We got lots to look forward to with East and West. When the time comes, I’d love to see what new idea or boundary they want to expand on next, although Alchemy Index is still by far my favourite concept project out there.
That interests me, something about how that album sounds always held me back from returning to it as much as the following releases.
Album is fantastic. That is all. Color in the Sky, Dandelion Wine, Unitive/East (lyrically, I absolutely bawled my eyes out)
Is there a me without you The you that breathes the sum Again, the one from many Again, increased by one Is there a you without me The me with star swept eyes Alive with fresh becomings New grass beneath black skies New grass beneath black skies
