Im glad they decided to go that direction like splitting the Alchemy Index. It’ll give me time to enjoy each a little more (although I hope the gap isn’t too long).

Dustin seemed to indicate late 2022. So I'll take one year over the standard 3 years any day.

 

Knowing that they have two albums of material to choose from, they're definitely sitting on some great songs that they have to hold back for /West. It takes a lot of discipline to not load up /East with all "the hits."

 

Maybe the albums have something that unifies the songs on East/West.

Also, I don’t know if alt versions meant unplugged (in Alchecmy Earth style) even though that’s where my mind went (like the band Moving Mountains did).

 

An If We Could Only See Us Now part II would be cool.

 

Dustin said that one more single will be released prior to the record's release. We kind of already expected that, but still nice to hear it.

 

I'm expecting the last single this week, just because the last 1 was in 3 weeks after the first released.

 

Is this the usual pre-release amount of conversation? Or does it seem quieter than records past?

 

Really happy this is dropping a week before I'll be seeing them. Will give me a little time to digest the record before hearing some of these songs live.

 

Probably the same amount besides when TBEITBN was coming out because everyone was waiting for their return.

 

They also embargoed all reviews until 3 days before release this time.

 

It's quieter because Mike J isn't around anymore. Not saying it's a bad thing though.

im personally still a little cautious because i was highly anticipating palms to be one of my favorite albums of 2018 and it....wasn't that. which is why ive been saying lately i dislike end of the year list talk surrounding albums that have just come out or are not even out yet and measuring every new release against some arbitrary ranking of albums released an arbitrary 12 months window etc. etc. you all should know my spiel by now, but palms is a great example of my expectations being so high it painted my reception of the album in an even more negative light than normal because it didn't live up. so thats one reason i try not to do that shit anymore and dislike how much i see convos devolve into that.

 

Yeah, I mean I try not to hype myself up for anything anymore really, keeping an even keel is the best and allows you to appreciate the albums more when they finally release.

 

i do need to revisit palms before this drops and see if my feelings have changed.

 

lol like someone else mentioned there isn’t someone saying tepoiw or whatever the fuck every other post so it’s a little quieter.

Is this a bad sign in your experience?

 

Just more common now than ever before. Doesn't go one way or the other.

 

The excitement is there for this album. 10 songs from an “album band” and solid single in Scavengers has helped me decide to try and wait to the actual album before hearing new songs. I don’t typically do that, but if there is a concept there it like to try and enjoy it as a whole.

I’m still so stoked on the idea there is a second album to eventually enjoy as a companion without a long way because 10 Thrice songs isn’t enough (because they are good and I am greedy).

 

I’ve only listened to Scavengers once. Haven’t listened to Robot.

I’m read for the 17th.

 

Same here. Trying to hold off. Palms was my AOTY when it came out and still one of my favorites of theirs. Can't wait for the drop.
