I don't know how much their set varies from tour to tour. Seems like this time out they're trying to pull out some deeper stuff, but I've probably seen the band 20+ times since Artist and aside from songs from whatever album their touring on, the rest of the set is usually 80% the same.
I'm probably just trying to justify a reason to not go since I've already been to 3 shows this week and have 3 more next week (if I wind up going to this)
What about the NEXT farewell set? Maybe they turn into The Who and have multiple farewell tours just to come back in 3 years haha.
Yeah. I'm kind of in the same boat. It's gonna depend on the setlist for me. I'm lukewarm towards B & C; Chon bores the shit out of me; and Circa is cool, but I haven't given anything a deep listen of theirs since On Letting Go. If they're busting out some deep cuts like Blood Clots and Black Holes or Flags of Dawn, I'll definitely be there.
All of this. If Thrice wasn't on this bill, I wouldn't think twice about going. Power Trip/Cannibal Corpse is the day after this show, and I've never seen PT so I'm kinda leaning towards that show instead, but Thrice is like a top 5 band for me, so I hate missing them. If they pull out some more stuff they've never played live before, I'm all in, but if I'm just gonna hear Silhouette for the 1000th time, I dunno...
Don't be hating on Silhouette! But yeah I get it. I feel like that song and Dust of Nations are like the two songs you can always count on them playing no matter what.
Maybe it's just my metal bias, but I'd go to Cannibal Corpse/Power Trip/Gatecreeper over this because Cannibal Corpse always brings it live (and their new album is good) and Power Trip/Gatecreeper are two of the best young metal bands going today. I'm pissed that the show here for that tour is on Black Friday, and I'll be out of town for it. I've at least since all three bands on that bill before though. But yeah, Thrice is always fun live too.
I'm more excited to see Thrice, but I'm still very excited to see Circa on this tour after how much I enjoyed their new album
I'd love to see Gatecreeper/Power Trip. I've seen Cannibal quite a few times, and while I enjoy them, I probably wouldn't go see them on their own. Guess I'll just have to wait and see what the Thrice setlist is like come Friday.
I just hope Thrice closes the show on Friday. I dont like Circa enough to maintain the level of excitement I'll get from a Thrice set. I've loved Thrice's sets the times I've seen them. They've done In Years To Come, Hoods on Peregrine, Paper Tigers, Circles, Wood and Wire, and The Sky Is Falling all in a post hiatus setting. Now they've confirmed Red Telephone and maybe some Alchemy stuff that hasn't been played in a long while.
Their first show back didn't they open with the 3 punch combo of Earth Will Shake, Paper Tigers and Arsonist? That sounds insane.
Whatever the "suite" means, all I know is if they play Firebreather/Night Diving/Broken Lungs I'll probably die and go to heaven on the spot
i'd like to hear rarely played stuff for the alchemy suite. so flame deluge/night diver/song for milly/child of dust would be my personal pics. i'm sure as f not goin to be disappointed no matter what they end up playing. maybe throw 'that hideous strength' in the encore slot???
some of the Thrice merch this tour; would love to see merch pics of Circa for anyone going to early dates
I love Thrice, I really do but I’ve always been so underwhelmed by their merch. Every one of those shirts is so ‘blah’ to be. The long-sleeve is the only one that I think is pretty good.
Aside from Red Telephone and the AI suite, the set is super predictable unfortunately Thrice Setlist at City National Civic, San Jose
Based on what I could tell from the billing I saw on Ticketmaster’s event page I believe Thrice close. I just hope the closer and the band that plays before them gets as long since the show I’m going to Thrice isn’t closing and they are who I’m going for. Even though I like Circa Survive, Thrice is one of top 10 all-time.
