Ant Man is amazing the way it is, I don't know if I'd sacrifice what we got to see what Edgar would have done, even though I love him too.
From someone who loves to edit film, it sounds like a nightmare from that POV even though I know it can make the comedy hit harder.
Cool that they showed Doctor Strange. I'm surprised neither domestic trailer has shown him yet. He's clearly gonna play a relatively small role in the first act, so it's not like he's a big surprise to hide, and showing another Marvel character in the promotional materials seems like a smart idea.
They hid that Falcon was in Ant-Man. Though that was more of a surprise. Anyone who saw the after credits scene in Dr. Strange won't be surprised to see him. So maybe it is weird to not show him? Unless they don't want people thinking he has a bigger role than he does?
Like you said, this one was teased in an after credits scene and that one wasn't. Plus, that one was in the second act, while Strange really seems to be a first-act cameo, especially since Mjolnir's shattering is on earth and Thor's hair is short in the Infinity War poster. Maybe you're right about them just not wanting to hype up a small role, especially with the backlash Suicide Squad got for Joker. (Which is weird 'cause Leto's Joker was possibly the worst part of that bad movie, but that's another topic, lol.)
Heh, remember when some tool wanted to sue WB for false advertising for that Joker stuff? Dear lord. Another thought, despite Tony having more of a real role in Homecoming, they did get a ton of shit for him being all over the marketing. Perhaps they are trying to avoid that here? I dunno.
The short runtime has me a little worried with how much they've already shown is in the movie. I hope it's not a lot of "That's cool and it's already gone" characters and villains that stay really surface level or are underutilized.
Idk if any cameo can top falcon in Ant-Man for me. I was so caught off guard. I had no idea! It's hard to be surprised by movies anymore and that scene was gold. So much fun.
That's funny - even though I didn't expect it in Ant-Man it was my least favourite part of that film. I didn't like it at all! Glad you did though.
Honestly, anything to get more Anthony Mackie is fine with me, even if it is a somewhat shoehorned cameo in Ant-Man
Ha! There you go. I haven't read one. I keep considering getting in to them but there's such a big back catalogue!
If you ever do want to try some I'd recommend something relatively small and self contained like the New 52 Batman run or Jason Aaron's Thor: God of Thunder. That's where I started and they were both fabulous.
All joking aside, if you finally decide to get into comics, the comic book thread here is a great place to start. All you have to do is say you wanna start reading, and then maybe share some characters you're into, or maybe some genres or styles you like (or some you don't). You'll get a lot of helpful information and specific recommendations. Comics are rough to jump into all by yourself, but with a little help, it's actually really easy and a lot of fun!
WGA Denies Thor: Ragnarok Co-Writer Credit Citing Guild Regulations - Apparently the WGA isn't giving Stephany Folsom credit for her part in the writing of this film due to some weird rule about how many people are allowed to be credited. She's currently fighting that decision, with Marvel on her side. It'll be pretty gross if, of all the official contributors to this story, the one woman is also the one person denied official credit, just because the guild doesn't wanna allow one more name to a short list.
