I liked that Zeus admitted he was afraid of Gorr but that was the only time he seemed to be a large threat. Necrosword must be packing some heat to allow a random nomad to square up against Thor, though
I generally liked the movie, but the fact that Thor went to a city full of gods to raise an army to fight Gorr the God Butcher and all the gods basically acted in the exact way Gorr's did that sent him off on his murder spree to begin with, but at no point did Gorr attack said city was such a disappointment. Felt like the Illuminati scene in MoM in that it was a cool premise/idea with basically no payoff for the story
I wasn't really planning on seeing this but my girlfriend wanted to today and I actually thought it was a lot of fun. I do like how Waititi has made Thor just a fucking idiot, I think Hemsworth is really funny in that kind of role, but I get why a lot of people probably wouldn't like that lol. Really cool visuals through the whole thing too, and was glad to see Natalie in here one more time
Yeah, I believe they announced that late last year. Not sure the timing, since he’s also signed on to do a Star Wars film, and was also at various points attached to Flash Gordon and Akira. I’d like to see The Incal come to fruition sooner than later ‘cause it could easily end up with the best traits of his Thor movies, but more fully baked outside of the Marvel Studios thing. Maybe he’ll get to that after Star Wars and what he learns from that Lucasfilm approach to it as well.
Yeah I'm looking forward to seeing what he does with The Incal. Hope it stays as insane as the comic. Also still hoping Jodorowsky might make another film at some point but I feel like its probably unlikely at this point.
Saw this for a second time last night with a friend who hadn’t gotten to it yet. Kinda liked it a little better than before.
I liked this, but I can see why some people didn't. The first third of the film has a very uncertain tone, like they were scared the audience would leave if there wasn't a gag in every single scene. The lack of a straight man like Ruffalo in Ragnarok makes Hemsworth's improv a lot more hit and miss. Once they get to Omnipotent City the film gets a handle on itself a lot better, mostly because Bale and Crowe understand their assignment really well and the film starts to actually have the confidence to be about something. Big fan of the visuals in the Shadow Realm sequence as well.
Watching now. I can just imagine a bunch of 11 year olds going to watch Event Horizon after it got namedropped in this movie and getting traumatized for life.
This movie just felt really weird. Like everybody is a quip machine, Gorr was crazy underutilized, and it just overall felt aimless. At least it was pretty.
Haven't read through the thread so might be repeating some stuff. Finally watched last night. It was mostly fine? When it was good it was good and when it wasn't it was...odd? There were two or three moments where I thought we were getting close to the end and then it kept going. Tessa Thompson was way underused. Not sure how I feel about how they pulled in the Mighty Thor storyline but it was nice to watch Hemsworth and Portman together again. Also as someone with serious Loki burnout, it was so nice to see a Thor story without him
