In my experience, it's a lot easier to get offended by someone disliking something than it is to get offended by someone liking something.
no one should be getting offended by either. why would you possibly give a shit what someone else thinks about something
except it is kind of the point lol, people getting upset about the opinions of others on this movie in this thread
But it's not about what other people think, is it? It's about people being unable to articulate their thoughts without being antagonistic or rude. It's fine to not give a shit about that sort of thing, but I don't think someone is wrong for being not okay with someone acting like a shit.
I realize I'm getting drawn into this conversation despite really not wanting to even be here right now, and I'm wondering why I can't stop myself.
Look, obviously threads don’t need to have all positivity (especially threads about fucking Marvel Studios releases), but people do often engage in some corny antagonistic bullshit. Is it a very common online experience to say you like something and have some rando swoop in to simply say “nah it sucks”? Of course. But, that doesn’t change the fact that people who repeatedly do that are annoying motherfuckers. And… honestly, the corny ass dorks who unrelentingly do that clearly “care what people think” about as much as the people who are frustrated by those posts. I’m not a cop. And, I’m a big proponent of critiques, ranging from the negative effects of Marvel Studios on Hollywood to disappointment in how a particular character was adapted. But, if you’re needlessly being a dick, then you’re a dork who deserved to be called out, tbh, especially if you’re a grown ass adult.
i feel like people have been able to pretty clearly articulate both what they like and what they dislike about this. this feels like inventing a reason to get upset.
First, I want to make clear this isn't about me, personally. I'm saying this as someone who witnessed the original event that xkaylinh is referencing. Not that I think deliberately invoking the event and giving people a reason to have another conversation like this is a particularly good idea either. Also, I feel like you have a complete lack of self-awareness about this.
Without having a dog in this argument or ill will towards anyone, I’d just say the block button is a wonderful feature.
I've said this before, but I really dislike the idea that instead of someone trying to learn from other people and change their behavior for the better, that the onus is on the aggrieved to nuke the offending person's posts out of their life. It's kind of not the right message in my mind.
I just feel like chorus is such a small portion of anyones life, I hope, that if someone’s behavior bothers you it’s maybe not on you to change their behavior or change what bothers you, but simply just move on and ignore them edit: This obviously excludes abusive, racist, sexist behavior that shouldn’t be ignored and should be called out. I’m more talking about “they’re kinda an asshole” behavior lol
Me, sitting back, watching the same discussion again and again and again and again and again. This is all I will be saying on the matter.
I just don't understand why someone would care if someone else dislikes a movie, even if someone is kind of a dick about it
I'm done, I don't even really want to be having this conversation. In the end, the people who get it, get it. And the people who don't, don't, and won't. That's the world in a nutshell.
I’m still trying to form a counter argument to @Penlab about why I think Gorr knows about Thanos that isn’t dependent on the comics lol. Comic Gorr 100% would but that’s unfair since we’re talking MCU Gorr
Here’s what I’m gonna go with to start. Lady Sif was blipped. I believe she counts as a god which means that if gods can get snapped the dudes vow just got like WAAAAYYYYYYY easier. You’d have to assume that a universe traveling God Butcher would at some point become curious who wiped out half of his prey. And he’d clearly been doing it for a while because Zeus was like “oh that guy? Yeah we know about him. And we know his entire plan”
This is plausible, except the entire movie takes place in the same time period. The scene at the beginning with Gorr wasn't a flashback or something that happened "a long time ago", it's something that happened a relatively short time before the rest of the movie. It's more likely that Zeus knew about Gorr because he knows what the Necrosword is and he's a god and can find out things very easily.
Yeah the problem I’m having is the comics establish Gorr as a millennia long problem and the movie doesn’t do that. But it takes place in 2025 so he’s gotta at least have been doing it for a couple years where, in 2023 his target list would have doubled and he’d be like WTF MAN
