I laugh at various things. Sometimes something like an axe being jealous of a hammer can be funny. Idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Someone asking me what my brand of humor is is great way to stop a conversation about a movie or show. I'm pretty sure we all contain multitudes when it comes to comedy.

A lot of the humor in this was not based on character or premise. Merely funny-sounding words thrown into the wind.

They should have at least had it been a bakery and called it Infinity Scones

This only works if you (correctly) pronounce scones as scones and not like scones

    I dunno, I chuckled at:

“We’ll bring the children home! And then we will feast!

Not on the children. We don’t do that anymore. Those were dark times.”

Man, people shit on Taika for not caring about his job as if that isn't like 90% of us in our own jobs haha. I for one am jealous that he's able to find extreme success in it

I don’t charge people to see my work, however.

I’m glad he can make want he wants but his jokes just don’t land this time.

I happily charge people to use my work, and frankly don't care as long as I am paid my salary

More jokes missed than hit, but I don't think the ratio is much worse than most Marvel movies

The 5 MCU films off the top of my head with a good comedy hit/miss ratio. Some, like Black Panther, don’t have a lot of comedy, however.

I was just discussing this over the weekend with friends. Not only has P4 been so damn long, I feel like it's going nowhere. Not building to any Avengers-style movie, no big bad like Thanos. It's content for the sake of content.

Not to refute your feelings, but Kang is very clearly the big bad, and seeds are very clearly being planted for both Young Avengers and a new multi-faceted Avengers team.

    So assuming that this weekend...

Phase 4 has felt like it's gone nowhere because so much of it has been a reload for the MCU. After the infinity saga ended, I the plan was obviously to build up a whole new list of heroes to carry on the franchise.

Falcon and Winter Solider was about establishing a new Captain America. Hawkeye was about setting up Kate. WandaVision was to reestablish Wanda... then Multiverse of Madness happened. Loki was Marvel's way to reestablish Loki as a hero. Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, and She Hulk are all to introduce new heroes.

No Way Home and Thor 4 were both ways to hit the factory reset button for both heroes; we finally get to see the street level friendly neighborhood Spider-Man battling villains and poverty and Thor as a father lets them do something new with his character. We then got a host of new heroes in Eternals and Shang Chi.

Yeah, with all of the tv shows phase 4 has dragged on. That's true. But also, I feel like Marvel's goal for phase 4 is to reload the MCU with all new characters. In that regard, they've succeeded.

It's like people saw the careful and methodical slow-paced three-phase plan of the Infinity Saga, and are now like, "but why can't they get there faster?"

The idea that Marvel needs to be “building to something” is so ridiculous to me, lol. What cynical retread of “the Infinity Saga” would warrant 50 hrs of content over a two-and-a-half-year period? This stuff doesn’t need to justify itself by “building to” Kang or Doom or Galactus or whoever; it should justify itself by being good.

“Content for the sake of content” is one thousand percent true, though. And, particularly egregious given Disney’s stranglehold on culture and the way people like those digital effects teams are treated.

I think he cares about his job. I just think with all of his appearances in everything he's done in the past year or two, he's stretched himself thin. I don't blame him for striking while the iron is white hot.

I do happen to agree with the general thrust of this, minus any vitriol or disdain.

I think the fact that the Infinity Saga was what it was has led people to expect Marvel to continue the same structure post-Saga.

And while I do believe they are building to something, and Feige has hinted as much, they don't necessarily need to do that. In fact, it should be a bonus, not the goal.

The goal should just be to make enjoyable movies. Opinions may be divided on if they're succeeding, but overall that's all they need to care about.
