See I was thinking about this earlier and it's kinda funny. Chevelle to me represents almost a bridge between those types of bands (I tend to think of them as 2000's alt metal but take away the lame tired cliches of the genre and replace it with better vocals, better songwriting, and better musicianship) and other better bands such as Tool, Incubus, and Deftones.
Still have not listened to that or Hats Off to The Bull since those seem to be considered 2 of their weaker albums. I'll have to get around to it before their brackets though haha.
Once you re listen for the bracket you'll going to be "ahhh, this is a great song" 10 times in a row.
Chevelle are one of the only bands I know that actively try make the music their fans want them to make. I swear I remember hearing Pete say something like (loose paraphrase) "whenever we ask fans what they want us to do, they say more heavy stuff, so we were like 'yeah sure let's do it'." before North Corridor came out
I remember thinking after both Sci Fi and Bull that Vena Sera was going to be the last heavy album we got. Glad I was wrong!
Round One Final Totals: Humanoid - 2 Straight Jacket Fashion - 7 Midnight To Midnight - 5 Paint The Seconds - 4 Well Enough Alone - 6 I Get It - 3 ---------------- Round Two: 1) Straight Jacket Fashion vs. Saturdays 2) Antisaint vs. Brainiac 3) Midnight To Midnight vs. Saferwaters 4) Well Enough Alone vs. The Fad
At least Paint the Seconds ran a close race. RIP -Straight Jacket Fashion (I always thought Saturdays would have been a good single, better than The Fad) -Antisaint -Midnight To Midnight -Well Enough Alone
Saturdays Antisaint Saferwaters The Fad I love this whole album but Saturdays and Saferwaters really take it to another level. Antisaint is the perfect opener though. I legit remember listening to a stream of this when it came out on my old desktop back in the day and flipping out at Antisaint
Favorite Chevelle era for sure! This is the album where they really came into their own imo! Wonder What's Next and This Type Of Thinking were both incredibly solid, above average metal albums, but this and Sci-Fi Crimes are so unique and different by comparison! (and after listening to La Gargola I would say it fits into that as well!)
Round Two Final Totals: Straight Jacket Fashion - 6 Saturdays - 2 Antisaint - 3 Brainiac - 5 Midnight To Midnight - 2 Saferwaters - 6 Well Enough Alone - 7 The Fad - 1 ----------------- Round Three: 1) Straight Jacket Fashion vs. Brainiac 2) Saferwaters vs. Well Enough Alone
