We have talked about doing Enema Of The State in its entirety as a celebration of the 20th anniversary of that record coming out. Expand - View Original
You mean the nail that included them having a resurgence, their first #1 certified gold hit and #1 charting album in a long time, sold out arena tours, etc? Yeah such a terrible nail.
Just because they're "popular" again doesn't mean its quality. Hopefully the new album is really good and I'll eat my words, but I have a feeling there will be diminishing returns until Mark hangs it up or brings back Tom out of desperation...
Millions of people love Blink-182, today, and their recent album. Millions of people get happiness out of their music for the first time in a long time. The California success speaks to that. People conflate "not for me" with "no one should/does like this." The idea that the band is "dead" is just absurd to posit given these facts.
I absolutely think the band should continue. but i would want to see them to do that album in full if Tom was coming back.
Anyone who wants Tom back doesn't know what Tom has sounded like vocally for over a decade. Admittedly Matt's not amazing from what I've heard of them live, but he's leagues ahead of where Tom is today and is certainly serviceable which is far more than anyone could say for Tom.
He really does though....and it's always been an odd wtf is he doing scenario. We all know Toms never been the best singer, especially in a live setting, and punk isn't about being the best, it's about emotion. His insistence at the AVA vocal wailing technique just doesn't translate to blink.
I don’t think anyone will argue that Matt isn’t a better singer but the thing I loved about blink was the contrast between Marks voice and Toms voice. That’s gone now. Now it’s two dudes that can’t sing that well who sound similar singing shitty lyrics.
