Nah, that makes sense, I know what you mean. It is a super catchy song, but I'd prolly play it more if it were a little less direct like you said.

 

The full version of Carnival Barker was intended for the "Symphony of Decay" EP that got shelved due to issues with Elektra.

And wasn't Ursa Major originally going to be called The Hideous Strength?

 

Wasn't there supposed to be a different version of Monotov's Private Opera too? I know they played a much more upbeat version of it when I saw them a few years ago and I seem to remember him saying it would be on Ursa Minor.

 

I have two versions, but i'm pretty sure one is mostly just acoustic and another has more of a beat and drives a little more.

 

The mostly acoustic one is the album version, right?

 

The version they play live is essentially a remix, it's awesome, never recorded and released though

 

They recorded an EP's worth of orchestral versions of Ursa Major songs with Magik Magik Orchestra after the record came out. That's where the remixed version of MPO was born. The EP got shelved like everything else this band does. They have one of the richest vaults of any band.

 

I think that's right...

I've come around to Dopamine a bit more over time, but boy do I agree with you

 

I actually like Dopamine for what it is, but it doesn't do it for me like this new song and the rest of their discography. And yeah, 7 songs is definitely a treat!

 

Song is dope. Not crazy about Phone Girl, though.

I really like this song. I especially like that Kryz Reid is flourishing a bit more since Dopamine.

 

And damn, October 7th is a huge day for me as a music fan. October in general, really.

 

Really digging this. I hope they make EPs a regular thing if this is what we're gonna get. Hope the rest of it is more like this.
