I didn't even go on Sunday lmao. Was watching the weather all day. Looked rough. Couldn't even finish my run around lunch due to lightning and couldn't find a break to sneak in the rest of my miles. I saw they ended up playing after having to change doors and set times a couple of times. Looks to be an abridged set. Yellowcard only got 9 songs too. And they didn't play Narcolepsy like in their full sets, so I can rest a bit (they didn't play that either when I saw them in 2015 in Bham). Wife didn't want to go so it would have been just me, which would have been fine, since I go to most shows solo. Me, the wife, and 2 friends went to see Deadpool instead!

My first time seeing them live in Dallas the other night, seriously incredible show. I went for Yellowcard and greatly underestimated how much I’d enjoy their set.

Missed out on tickets, but it being only acoustic means I’m ok with missing out. Realized I’ve seen them 7 times and 2 of those times were last year and were INCREDIBLE. Their live show has gotten so much better.

The Semi-Charmed Life Production Deconstruction is up on Eric Valentine’s site. Sounds like it could be a very fun and interesting watch.

  12. 2 hours into this Eric Valentine video, and this is exactly the nerdy shit I love. Early mixes of the song, unmastered versions, going through the stems and picking apart what gear they used, different takes, etc etc etc. Sooo fun hearing all that stuff for a song I've listened to a million times for most of my life. The last hour of the video is Eric re-mixing the entire song top to bottom.

need to watch this video, it’s so up my lane lol. curious to hear the new mix.

last August I bought an OG press of the S/T record on vinyl, and it is far and away the best I have ever heard that record sound, truly cannot fathom it sounding better. not only that but it has significant claim to being the best sounding record in my collection, and I have some serious heavy hitters in that category. the bass especially shines on it. it definitely wasn’t cheap at all, but imo it was worth every penny.

He said on tour that Summer Gods was supposed to be in support of a new record, but he couldn’t write the lyrics in time. So maybe it’s close?

I haven't even fully listened to Our Bande Apart. Screamer was decent but they absolutely massacred Got So High which was my favorite demo of theirs and the rest of the songs are very hit or miss. We Are Drugs has like 2 songs I remember. Dopamine was the last album that I felt really did something for this band (released 10 years ago this year? What?)

So I'm approaching a new album from TEB with a cautious demeanor. The one major thing I could see positively influence them is how well they've perfected their live shows and performance. The past two times I've seen them have been the best and I hope that energy translates well onto a new album compared to how dull and lifeless some of their recent output has been.

Our Bande Apart rules. It didnt really click until I saw the songs played live, but now its one of my go to 3EB albums. Dust Storm and Funeral Singers in particular are great. I also love Screamer a lot.

For me, they've got a classic era (the first three albums), a surprisingly strong comeback album (Ursa Major), and a post-script (everything after). Dopamine is solid, but it's missing the magic of those first four for me, and Screamer and Our Bande Apart are very hit or miss.

If your expectations are very low and zen-like, Our Bande Apart has some cool and fun songs/moments. It’s quieter and smaller and more “indie” sounding than anything they’ve done which to me was really interesting. I’ve probably typed this exact same thing like 2 pages earlier in this thread but Jenkins has always seemed to admire/be jealous of actual indie musicians who get to make cool music and this feels to me like him approaching the songs more as if he was a smaller act trying to be more artistic rather than rock star 3EB Jenkins. In the end, it’s still 3EB and not as artsy as I imagine he thinks it is but it’s still novel enough for them that I spent a few weeks playing and enjoying it when it came out.

I'll definitely have to sit with it and give it a proper listen then.

    Things have changed.

Dust Storm is great, but nothing else on Bande Apart did anything for me.

Pretty much where I'm at, although I think Dopamine has some high "highs"

I like that album just fine, but it's so rarely the one I reach for it I'm in a 3EB mood. It's almost always one of the first four.

Right....agreed......but I would grab for it WAY WAY BEFORE the stuff that came after.
