You know what has sadly not held up for me is Dopamine. I thought Back to Zero was a great tune 5 years ago but its really not, and the rest of the album is very poppy and disinteresting to my ears Either Dopamine or Screamer would've moved from good to great if they'd saved their best track in years in "Company of Strangers" for a full album cycle
OOTV S/T Screamer Ursa Blue Dopamine Very solid discography from this band. I basically ranked based on how much I listen to each album. Company of Strangers and Weightless got robbed by being out on an EP. Very excited for what’s next from these guys. Screamer is great and I love the direction they went for it. I have so many awesome memories with the album.
I can't even try to rank with their discography I enjoy pretty much all of their albums more than most other albums in general
Third Eye Blind Dopamine Out of the Vein Blue Ursa Major Screamer The debut was something I went out as a kid(6th-7 grade?) and bought with my own money at the local CD store, CD City after hearing the radio singles. I liked those songs, Losing, Narcolepsy, maybe Thanks a Lot, and I thought London was cool. The rest didn't interest me. I recall liking "Never Let You Go" when that hit radio. I recorded the chorus of that song on my YAK BAK(holy shit) to let me friends hear it at school and they thought it was terrible. I ended up never buying that album or really hearing a song off that record until in the late 2000's or early 2010s. Blinded came out on the radio and of course I thought it was good. Since I could drive at the time I went to Circuit City or Walmart to buy it, but I bought the edited version so it had bleeps in Faster and Crystal Baller. I remember listening to that album in my car waiting to go into my church to help with Summer vacation Bible school when it had just rained and the sun had already came out. So everything out was wet, steaming, and shiny. I finally went back to revisit the debut album maybe 2004-2005. I was BLOWN AWAY with how good it was and how much I loved it. I was out of the loop when Ursa Major came out and didn't hear a thing off of it. I picked up Dopamine when it came out and fell in love with it. That's what sparked me to go back and actually buy Blue, Ursa Major/Red Star, and listen to the OotV more. Dopamine fully revitalized my interest in the band and solidified them as one of my favorites. I still need to listen to Screamer more even though, like everyone said, some of those songs are duds.
I’ll take some duds here and there if it means releasing music on a more frequent timeframe. Gimme all the weird covers EPs and shit you want, Stephan. I’m in.
I think this would be my ranking minus the BIG GAP. Awesome band always excited to hear more from them.
Yeah that’s probably my unpopular opinion with this band. There’s maybe three, four songs on there I care for and the rest I think is pretty bad honestly
It took a long time for Blue to click for me on the level of self-titled and Out of the Vein. But they take a lot of chances on that record with different sounds and types of songs (and lyrical content, frankly!) and I've come to really love it over time. Also, just dynamite hooks all over that record.
Anything and Camo are the only one's i don't really listen to very often but i still like them. All of the others are absolute bangers, haha.
