He actually said the same exact thing in New Hampshire on Friday. "We shouldn't even be here right now" & "We were supposed to be in the studio right now writing a new album"
Last night was a lot of fun. They played 4 or 5 songs I’ve never heard live and sounded great. My one complaint would be my hope for them to play ~2 hours since it was only them, no openers. Got the same spiel about an album next year and grabbed a tour book for $35 (ten signed ones were there too for $45)
Yeah I nabbed a signed book. It’ll go nicely with my signed placeholder in the box set. Nice photo SJ lookin fresh
it's pretty good, but I think they could've done way better with a live album in terms of setlist/length/etc., especially when it's been touted for ten years. sounds good and everything, but there's just something missing in my opinion. the book is kind of corny too, but i've got no real regrets about buying it, I think it's a cool collection piece
Odds of meeting them before/after the show? The venue I'm seeing them at tomorrow has a back parking lot that overlooks the load in area. I've met a number of bands back there, but I've heard many stories of Stephan and his ego. I just wanna try and get my Self-Titled album signed. My only worry is that I'm not buying the meet & greet thing so I think he'd be more off-putting than normal.
Did you meet him during the meet and greet or just by chance? I've never met him so I can't judge just yet but I'm glad to hear that.
Holy effing epic night. Only way I can summarize is by copy-pasting what I sent to my best friend via text message who isn't hip on Third Eye Blind, so bear with me because I'd rather not type it out again: "Girlfriend and I went to the Third Eye Blind show tonight. Ran into these hot chicks after the show that we talked to for an hour waiting for the band to come out and sign my album and take pics. Lead singer signed my album and then the guitarist comes out. Turns out these chicks are long time friends with the guitarist that we had no idea about. They invite us backstage at the venue. Drinking beers with the band and management downstairs at the venue. Then we get invited on the tour bus. Talked to the drummer and Stephan the main singer for a while. They all decided we should go out to a bar. We walked around the city to this bar called McGintys. It was closing and they decided to reopen the bar because of the band being there. Straight up drinking with the band and management. Like hanging out and dicking around. Like celebrities. We just got home. I can't believe this. I'm gonna be so late to work tomorrow." Epic night. Seemed like it never ended.
I met him at a show outside of the venue. This was years ago, about a year before Ursa Major came out.
I felt like it kept escalating to different levels and definitely blew my expectations out of the water for sure haha.
