Their discography is so amazing, it's virtually impossible for me to rank their albums. Just depends on the day for me, haha. I'd put Dopamine and We Are Drugs slightly behind, but every other album is almost perfect.
I did enjoy We Are Drugs a lot more than Dopamine. I made a playlist with those songs and like half of Dopamine.
I didn't get much out of We Are Drugs. I've said it before, but it sounded like a Stephan Jenkins solo disc, and then I realized that's essentially what 3EB are now anyways. If they'd put out a disc full of songs on the tier of "Company of Strangers", it'd be on par with Out of the Vein.
I thought Don't Give In, Company of Strangers, Sherri is a Stoner were all great, and Queen of Daydreams was decent. Cop vs. Phone Girl had a super catchy chorus melody that I wish they would've saved for a different song.
To me, Dopamine is significantly better than We Are Drugs. We Are Drugs is passable but far inferior to anything else they've ever put out.
it's like a way less good version of "i want you." i don't hate we are drugs though. it feels weird to wish this of a band like 3eb but uh i hope they spend longer on their next release
I still like We Are On Drugs. If it was a full length it'd probably be the worst, but I am much happier that we have the EP than if we didn't. At least half of the songs are worthwhile entries into the bands discography
Isn't It Pretty is that one mopey departure they take on every disc and it rarely suits them: Self Righteous and Summer Town are in the same vein and they weigh down the rest of the album. Unrelated, but fucking hell is the extended version of The Red Summer Sun a jam. No idea why they cut off the album version - the outro that pops up 15 minutes after Blue is over is one of the best things they've ever done.
Probably the weirdest "Critical" point against Out of The Vein on reviews was that there were no hooks and the songwriting suffered on that record. I have no idea what they were talking about, since that album is incredibly catchy, especially the entire first half.
lol yea, I consistently find myself with "Faster", "Blinded", and "Forgetting Myself" stuck in my head along with others off that record.
Of all the band album rankings I've ever done, I'm probably the most confident with my opinion of: S/T> Blue >> Vein >>> Dopamine >> Ursa And every ">" is deliberate and calculated. I'd put We Are Drugs somewhere near Dopamine but for sure above Ursa
Do you all think that we are gonna finally get a live full-band version of Tattoo of the Sun played on this summer tour? Kinda seems like a hard song to pull off, but I think with two extra guitarists on hand it could happen.
I get people being underwhelmed a bit by Ursa Major, its hit or miss for me, but "Bonfire", "Sharp Knife", "Dao of St. Paul" and "Water Landing" are classic 3EB tracks "Don't Believe a Word" is a pretty underrated single as well, the verses are so bouncy and signature 3EB
