ok how about it's third eye blind's american music club album i think this might be better than screamer but idk too early and who cares
I don't think I know the american music club reference haha. but it's definitely their chill laid-back quarantine album. no way this is better than screamer, there's at least 5 songs on that album better than anything on this album
"box of bones," "dust storm," "funeral singers," and "time in berlin" can all hang with the best stuff on screamer, come on this album also has a way better ending
That was my initial thought too, but boy has it grown on me these last few weeks. Still not sure where it ranks, but it's climbing.
Kinda nervous going into this. Only 9 songs and I’m not really into the 3 pre-released songs. Freakin love Screamer though. Lotta good memories with that album.
Dust Storm is great, packed with great moments and the first guitar solo in ages I liked Silverlake Neophyte also Funeral Singers is a Sylvan Esso song, I wasn’t really expecting a cover out of 9 tracks but ok All in all this thing feels half finished When they used to take 6 years to release an album it felt like a finished idea, lately the music is coming fast and furious and it does feel a little cobbled together
I feel like I just listened to a bunch of demos. Their worst album. If you want to even call it that. Dust Storm has some potential though. It has hardcore Nada Surf vibes.
This is the most subtle, least embarrassing album they’ve ever released. I’m still trying to figure out whether it’s thoughtfully deliberate or simply boring but I dig the restraint and I’ll give them extra time to soak this in. If the songs start getting stuck in my head, even without the ridiculousness or rock-out moments, I might rank this near the top of their post-Out of the Vein output.
