Surprised to see no thread for this. Didn’t realize it was getting a theatrical release but it looks like it’s out now, at least where I live. Not sure if it’s goin nationwide. Hopefully I’ll get to catch it soon!
I watched it last night in 3D. Such a powerful film. It’s just insane to me how young these kids were.
I found a stream on Vimeo, but I highly suggest seeing it in theatres and in 3D, if possible. Really sucks that it’s only playing tonight and the 27th
Just found out about this today, bummer! The screening closest to me was sold out tonight and the only one in the 27th is at noon. I’ll be at work:(
the last 15 minutes or so where it is announced that the war was over and you slowly hear the cloud of gunfire cease in the distance...man. Obviously that sound was added in, but that really got me. And then after that when it talks about the relationships between the Germans and the Brits and how they didn’t hate each other, they just had a job to do. Just really adds to how meaningless war is.
I can’t fucking shake this one shot in They Shall Not Grow Old where this dude is looking at the camera, fucking terrified, and it’s revealed later that like 90% of the people on screen were in their last 30 minutes of life. One thing I really love about this footage is that everyone is so aware of the camera. It was so novel.
Welp, all 3D showings anywhere near me are completely sold out. Had to get a ticket to a theater I don't really care for and that doesn't have assigned seats. Guess this means I'll need to get there super early.
I hope this doing so well means it gets a wider release. this seems like such an amazing accomplishment in film that so many more should see. put it in theatres for a full week or something. edit: I should have read the article haha
