Yeah this is really solid. Not a bad one on here. You can really feel the vulnerability in the lyrics. An aside cause I just realized this recently - the lyrics to "Loud Places" are low key amazing.
Word Seesaw is actually my favorite on the albums and Olivers is my least. Kinda telling we probably both forgot the name of the song lol.
i dont think anything here is as good as loud places or even seesaw, though "a violent noise" certainly bears many of the same skittering production hallmarks of the best in colour tracks and really feels like maybe the most complete realization of oliver + romy + jamie these days.
Yea loud places is the best thing. I just adore On Hold. That Hall and Oates sample is magical. Also Performance is an early standout. Enjoy Say Something Loving as well (another great sample)
my favs are "replica" and "i dare you". they hit such a gorgeous, iridescent mood throughout, and the hooks are all tremendous
Overall, very solid album, but nothing stands out after one listen. Will be spinning this regularly though.
Based on twitter seems like this is going to be the #hottake album of 2017. Well at least until a new Arcade afire album.
One where stations like Alt Nation or XMU or any channel that plays any semblance of indie/rock/alternative will gladly play it every other song? They practically already do for On Hold
