Imagine 90s indie rock legends who almost put out their masterpiece on drive thru records and you’ve pretty much got it
I will always love The Wrens but I've long suspected Charles of being, shall we say, less than perfectly honest ("believe it or not"...gimme a fucking break pal), and this thread only reinforces that. This whole thing smells and is very sad.
‘It’s repulsive to me’: the bitter feud of indie-rockers the Wrens this whole thing is so fucking exhausting and dispiriting. jesus christ
Anyone get a copy of the Secaucus repress today? I've been with family in KY all day but I might swing by a record store in Louisville on my way home to see if they have it haha
So there are actually some still for sale on Discogs I think if you're interested, no idea about price tho I ended up getting mine mailed from Rough Trade NYC, woke up at 6:45 my time the Sat after Black Friday to snag one of the leftovers from in store sales before they were gone
once again i am listening to the meadowlands also my local shop still has a copy of secaucus, gonna grab it later
4:19 on “She Sends Kisses” is an all time music moment. I love this record but I gotta say that the first 5 songs are still the best, which is my one gripe.
the best moment on this album also comes 1:27 into hopeless when they kick the distortion on the riff
Is Hopeless the one that half of the song previously appeared in a different song on that EP? Anyone know what I’m talking about? Anyway I like that version even more than Hopeless I think
knocking it down a few BPM, giving it to Kevin entirely and repeating the riff throughout were good choices
Yeah I mean I’m not complaining about the finished product at all haha, but interesting how it progressed. That whole EP whips actually tho, this song from it is maybe a top 5 Wrens track for me
