I'm really curious what label they're working with. in my head it's Anti- but that is based on zero evidence

it seems like the band is done—Whelan's songs for that long-gestating record are coming out separately under the name Aeon Station in December on Sub Pop. Bissell is writing more songs to add to the 8 he had and is figuring out how to release those

 

So we’re getting the songs, not the record. Interesting

I feel sad that it's turning out this way after so long, but it will be interesting to get...something. really hoping the Charles songs do come out some day

 

so they should be done in... 12 years?

can't read the article cos I'm not subscribed, but if the reason is Kevin got sick of Charles nearly two-decade long perfectionist bout holding back his own music, can't say I blame him tbh. it got ridiculous a while back

a description tbh will not tell you a lot bc the devil is in the details... I mean

the way the guitars are panned for a sec in this track & how they then start harmonizing before an insane bridge comes in, the inflection in the vocals on that track that somehow perfectly summarizes the despair & disappointment of growing into yr mid 30’s, the sense of finality & futility that comes into sharp focus when a drunken man pauses his piano playing for a second, etc...
