Gotta throw Katamari Duquette into the best song discussion. Hope we get something new soon. This has probably been there longest period without a release of some kind, right?
Thanks all, I'll keep listening through their discog. I knew asking some real fans would yield a whole bunch of different responses. I take it the band doesn't have, like, that one song they always close a show with or anything. Well January 10th is still the standout for me so far but i have much to learn
I think I’ve seen them live 10 times now , and they have opened every single show with heartbeat in the brain and closed almost every one with getting sodas actually lol
to @Steeeve Perry ’s point tho, the band’s revolving cast results in fans being all over the place in terms of favorites
the back half of Harmlessness is by far their best stuff. I’ll try to just listen to Mental Health or Wendover end just end up staying through Mount Hum. agree w/ Marine Tigers & to the Janitor being up there, though.
I'll check that out, the one they did on Algernon was pretty underwhelming but I imagine there's a lot more to say and ask here
chris is a funny guy and it really helps. so far ive only heard this retro episode + the snowing one they did, and both have been great.
the snowing one was the other one i was thinking about checking out, so that's good to hear. do they do the track by track thing in all of them?
yeah they got track by track.with snowing the best part is they have the entire band present, so you hear about the songs from all the angles. They also talk ALOT about the early days of the emo scene, which is super dope to hear about.
yeah, i think perspective was what i was missing in the algernon one -- not that i valued tank's opinion less by any means, i just like thoroughness haha. cool, thanks for the rec
seems they teasing a new 12" release on their instagram. hopefully this is that live album they were working on cause i doubt its new music
Assorted Works, out Oct. 25 (FYI, every song has been previously released) Track List Side 1: I Will Be OK. Everything Mega Steve Bread For Brett Wait... What? To The Janitor, To The King Side 2: To Miss Catherine (A Birthday Gift. I’m Sorry I Can’t Do Better. But Still...) blank #6 Be Neon With Me Beverly Wyatt Gig Life (Lathe Cut Version) Fat Heaven A Note From The Author February 1st To The Author January 1st We Carry Knives Side 3: From The Crow’s Nest On Fire Street Outer Heaven Even More Forever Katamari Duquette Side 4: Chest & Shirt Smoke & Felt Body Without Organs
This comp is easily the best world is album and it isn’t even close What are we carry knives and note from the author from?
The Gig Life lathe, and Fat heaven are kind of hard to come by, and Body Without Organs has only been released digitally. Also, I’m surprised that Make Mistakes is not on here
They’re from The Distance 7” (two b-sides from Between Bodies) Note is a small full band piece with only spoken words. And Knives is just a weird instrumental of drums and noises
Ahhh, Beverly Wyatt always gets me. Such a good song. This "Assorted Works" release is nice. I've heard pretty much all these before, but it's cool to have them collected in one spot.
