fuzz minor has some seriously awesome guitar tone, that bass and guitar riff work really well together.
OK, Nicole is a POS - fuck her I still think Whenever, If Ever is a masterpiece and the new music sucks and to a great extent it's because she was kicked out of the band
stop giving any validation to abusers, there's a way to say you don't like the new stuff without giving any power to horrible people
these last 3 songs are awesome, what a great way to close out the album. I'll be listening to this album a lot over the next few months.
infinite steve is so cool. whats the influence I'm picking up on, almost like a smashing pumpkins vibe? the way it falls apart half way through is so freakin good too.
when someone is an abuser the quality of their work is irrelevant! it should not even be mentioned whether for positive or negative reasons
It's also called being a good human being, you don't need to state that's the reason why you like the older material better. Imagine if someone from the band popped in here and read that; imagine how bad that would make them feel. If you hold that opinion that's fine, but I would think of other peoples feelings as well. It's fine to not like the new stuff but there are some things that I think are wrong to say. That's just my opinion on the matter.
you can decide to see life like that - without nuance and with a black-white perspective to things I cannot do that we can both agree with "fuck abusers" and that's what matters tho
I don't think they care about what a random stranger thinks about their art I am just being honest human beings are complex and have various dimensions to them - you can ignore that or deal with it I respect people who don't want to separate art from the artist - respect me if I choose to do so
I still haven't listened to this yet, but I'll probably dig it. I'm finding more and more often if Teebs is high on something, I usually am too, haha.
they don’t care what a random stranger thinks about their art but they damn well care about abusers not getting any positive satisfaction. I do not respect someone who has any respect for the achievements of an abuser
The thing is that saying "the earlier stuff was better" and saying that "the earlier stuff was better as a direct result of nicole being in the band" are two very separate statements - the second statement may not even necessarily be true due to this band functioning more as a collective of people who constantly come and go. It's alright to separate art from artist, but that doesn't mean you should validate the abuser as a result of that separation, right?
wild that we still have to have these talks also i love that steve just posted a random TSwift gif and dudes felt the need to be like "but foxing is so much better than her!!!"
I don't understand the argument... is it "maybe it has nothing to do with Nicole that their music changed"? Well, conceded, that might be true. or is it "it's ok to say you like the past stuff better but not to say anything positive about Nicole"? That's just weird to me. WHY IGNORE A FUCKING FACT? WHY IGNORE THAT THIS PERSON - ANY PERSON - CAN BE A WONDERFUL FUCKING ARTIST AND AN ABSOLUTE PIECE OF SHIT RELATIONSHIP-WISE AT THE SAME TIME?
A Taylor Swift/Foxing collab would actually be fire, I already think someone could mix together Style and The Magdalene and it would be SICK.
Yeah you can be a POS and also a great musician, but it's not really the point, I thought. Isn't separating the body of work from the person who made it the entire thing about separating art from artist, anyway? When you separate art from artist, you're looking past the artist themselves, whoever they are and whatever they've done, to say "I enjoy this work". You're not ALSO saying that you appreciate them for their work because that's a different ballgame entirely. I don't think anyone here's ignoring that you can be a total shitbag and make good art, but the argument is appreciate the work, not the asshole. It's not about ignoring them as an artist, it's about not validating them for their contributions.
