This is pretty good but a gigantic step down from Harmlessness, I think. Need to spend more time with it.
I will forever be blown away at the level of love Harmlessness gets, but this thread definitely isn't a safe space for that opinion
I put in about 4 spins tonight in a bedroom setting. It definitely feels like their most "cohesive" album. Definitely excited to do a car listen or 4 this week.
I can't see why anyone that likes this style of music wouldn't love it, honestly. Do you not like it or just not love it as much as anyone else?
Yesterday was the first day that really felt like Fall here, it added a lot to For Robin. And driving down the highway with windows down during the end of Faker just was an A+ experience.
I don't really think the style of music should have to be a qualifier, I just think as an album of music it's enjoyable at best, but I just don't get what is so unique or different about the album
it's a musically brilliant album with fantastic lyrics and top notch production, shifting from sound to sound seamlessly and being a whole cohesive product.
see, that's where I really disagree. I think it's musically fine, I'm sure the lyrics are great but I have no opinion there, production is good I guess and I don't think it shifts between styles in any exciting way. I think it's a fine album of music
I mean, you don't like Foxing either, right? Or these other sort of post-emo bands that are doing wild things imo right now
I just don't know what world that what they are doing is "wild." I get liking them, I mean one song at a time it's kinda enjoyable, but it's so dull and uneventful as an album of the same thing over and over again
I wouldn't say a gigantic step down. Not to take away anything from Harmlessness (which I love) or to say that this is better, but I think this benefits from being a more focused, cohesive (and shorter) album.
