Not sure if anyone else is part of SDPS, but during a brief Q&A today on Instagram, someone asked if there was any chance we'd see a 10 year anniversary tour for The Upsides next year, and the answer was "YES."
Praying to God if there's an Upsides 10-year that it's a full-fledged tour and not just a weekend in Philly.
It will definitely be a tour I feel like we won’t really see much from them aside from that over the next two years
Long as they play got scared and I’m sorry I’m in. Can’t believe philly got shafted during the sister cities tour
Oooo yeah they switched the set a little the second night. Got You In January, Washington Square Park, and Don’t Let Me Cave In switched into the set that night instead. Scared and Sorry is one of my favorite songs to see live. So good.
10 years since the upsides huh. Wow that seems so weird. Breakout album to scene classic and I'm old.
The upsides came out right when 10-year tours were really kicking off, so I think it was always a guarantee, I think they were even talking about it back when Suburbia came out. I'm pretty sure there is a ton of money in these 10-year tours. Hell, I think the only reason Four Year Strong is still a band is so they can do an Enemy of the World 10-year tour next year before they call it quits. I also wouldn't be surprised if Man Overboard does Real Talk next year too. Scene Band Life Year 1-6: Make 3 albums. Year 7-9: Be Broken Up Year 10-15: Reunion with 10 year tours and a couple of new albums. Year 16: Break up or slow down.
I wouldn't be surprised if they skip the 10 year tours for most of the records. They've played plenty of shows where they've played each record in full. Not sure they'll wanna keep going down that road.
Yeah, this feels like a very accurate breakdown of the average life of a band in this scene. I'm cool with it. I also think they will definitely do separate 10-year tours or shows for The Upsides, Suburbia, and TGG.
saw them tonight in barcelona, good as always. i have seen them too much probably now though, 15 times maybe, so it's really hard to be pleasantly surprised by the set
