top 5 outside the top 5 just because i felt bad leaving these out There There The Bastards The Vultures The Wolves Woke Up Older Coffee Eyes Washington Square Park
While probably not their best, the 5 that resonate the most with me are: Cul-de-sacs I Don't Like Who I Was Then The Bastards, The Vultures, The Wolves Woke Up Older Local Man Ruins Everything
Cigarettes and Saints I won't say the Lord's Prayer Sell out my funeral There, there And now I'm nothing Bloodstream and cul de sac are up there, as well as a few from upsides (if nothing else but for the nostalgia)
There, There Came Out Swinging I Just Want To Sell Out My Funeral Me Vs The Highway The Devil In My Bloodstream
I always kind of forget me vs the highway exists, then fall back in love with it every couple months.
Man, I remember when that split with Stay Ahead Of The Weather streamed on Absolutepunk and Thomas wrote this awesome retrospective article on The Wonder Years. I was in a music class and my friend Sarah always sat beside me, she went to the bathroom (in reality i think she was going to make out with some guy) and I used her laptop without her permission to stream Me Vs The Highway and read the article. I managed to sneak one headphone under my hoodie so I could listen without the professor noticing. I was absolutely blown away by that bridge.
The bridge from Salinger still gives me chills, aside from the shitty lyrics in the rest of the song.
Really cool that Laura Stevenson is touring with them in the UK. Hope that happens in the US at some point.
Completely agree. To see the impact this record still has on myself and many others is just so insanely cool to see. It's going to be a staple for a very, very long time.
And Now I'm Nothing Came Out Swinging There There Cigarettes & Saints The Bluest Things On Earth (this is probably an unpopular opinion) 'Funeral' in the context of its album is one of my favorite twy songs. However, on its own it doesn't have the same emotional impact.
Bluest Things doesn't hit my top 5, but I totally see why it would hit someone else's. That song is a banger.
Totally. I love how Soupy starts singing right off the bat, and the dueling guitars during the solo. When I first heard it I dismissed it for sounding 'too pop punk', but with time I realized there was much more to it.
Cigarettes and Saints Bluest Things on Earth Brothers & / Cardinals (If I had to pick just one, Cardinals) Devil in my Bloodstream Don't Let Me Cave In Honorable Mention: Coffee Eyes I really don't understand all of the hate for NCTH. I think it is a career-defining album. It's perfect to me and my favorite album of all-time. I can still play it all the way through without issue today. It has been in my car's CD player since I bought it last year. And I love Suburbia / TGG. TGG is a very close second for me. Still waiting for that Fall tour announcement...
5. Hoodie Weather 4. There, There 3. Washington Square Park 2. Don't Let Me Cave In 1. I Just Want To Sell Out My Funeral I wanted to fit something from No Closer To Heaven but I have too close connection to the first 3 albums (starting with The Upsides of course).
