i think it was at the Suburbia release show where Dan said that with Suburbia theyd have so many more songs to add to their set that some older songs would be retired. when it was just The Upsides and WBPF it felt like theyd add the more mature GSOI songs (Keystone, WKIRGW) in just to fill out the set and give the older fans a little treat. i think thats also when they retired the Distances split song as well.
Yeah I didn't think they'd bring that back post-Suburbia but they did, the spring 2014 TGG tour sets were wild
I Wanted So Badly To Be Brave took a while to sink in for me but damn those lyrics are great. Can tell Soupy put a lot of effort into working the happy and sad childhood memories together (war paint colours matching those of the bruises) with the theme of breaking cycles of abuse. "We could be the heroes that we always said we'd be" ties back to the start so perfectly.
someone just posted this in the irish pop punk facebook group no way they're doing a european tour without dropping the album first. guessing it comes out march or early april
there was a ticketmaster event for it, but its gone now http://www.ticketmaster.ie/event/18005394B0B4E859 it was almost assuredly an error. that place is tiny, it only holds 1000 and it has a 2foot stage height.
shit you're right. i just looked up the capacity for 2 shows on the NCTH run i saw em on and they're only 1500. i honestly thought they were closer to like 2500, dang. i cant afford this shit right now. i got kids and christmas just happened, give me till the summer please *edit* i still think the stage height and size would be a problem, it's small looking. Music Venue
the button factory is one of the best venues in the country sound-wise. i've seen bands like touche amore/converge/desaparecidos/american football/trash talk etc. all play shows there the venue twy played here last year was like 350 capacity or something, heh
HOLY SHIT TWY in The Button Factory in April? I don't know if this is happening or not but if it *is*, I'm so there. edit: fuck it, speculation time new single either side of that tiny Philly show (mid-to-late Jan) album announced for March release touring cycle starts with a European tour in April seems like they might be going for this... hmmm
Figure I'll put this in here cause I don't really know where else to, but does anyone possibly have an extra ticket for the show at Boot & Saddle later this month? I was supposed to move to Texas early this month so I missed out on a ticket but the move got pushed back so now I'd love to go to the show. Will pay whatever.
Hey guys, not sure if this is the spot but I'm cleaning out my closet and am trying to get rid of some older stuff. I have a Wonder Years sweatshirt that I'm sure someone here might be interested in. It's a medium, and is just missing the draw string on the hood. Imgur: The magic of the Internet Imgur: The magic of the Internet $20 plus $6.25 flat rate box from USPS and it's yours.
Some nights I can spend hours browsing Youtube watching all kinds of live/acoustic/session videos from this band. Love this band a lot and I'm thankful they're around.
In 2012, my family traveled to California. My brother and I went to see the Wonder Years while my parents visited bakeries and shit. In one of the bakeries, my mom and dad saw some young dudes that looked like they were from out of town, so my mom asked them if they were in a band. Turns out it was some of the guys from TWY, A Loss For Words, Polar Bear Club and Transit who had left the venue for something to eat. They bought them their food and asked TWY to give my bro and I a shout-out during their set. I didn't know this was happening while we were at the show, so when Soupy said "we'd like to thank our friends Matthew and Riley from Canada", I shat my pants. It was a real special moment for me, won't forget it anytime soon. It was cool. TWY are cool.
I know there's about a 0.000001% chance of this happening, but I would do terrible things to get the new album surprise released on Friday.
i had a similar experience. i had planned on driving up my friends to baltimore for that tour, and i was guest listed through PBC to interview them at the show. turns out a day before the show, the guest list was cut, and i didn't have a ticket, but was my friends' only chance at a ride to the show. i message dan on AP and ask him if there's anything he could do, and he said that i'd be taken care of and i shouldn't worry. me being how i am, i still asked for a contact number just in case, but he told me to trust him and it'd be fine. got to the show, was on the list, and it was a blast.
