This is going to be controversial, but here goes anyway - I don't think Funeral is *that* great of a song. Yeah, its ambitious and different to anything the band had really tried before, and is probably the perfect way to end the album, but in a match game like this, I think there's probably at least 4 or 5 better songs on that record.

Because the flashlight bridge and "Jesus Christ. I'm 26." ripped me apart the first time I heard.

I missed the last round :( I would've said PTSD and There, There.

This is a nearly impossible choice for me but I think I'd have to go with Funeral, because it blew my mind when I first heard it and still does to be honest.

That line always gets me.

 

Yeah I would say the outro verse (right where the "two black birds on a highway sign" kicks back in) on Funeral is my all time favorite TWY moment. Either that or the end of Cigs and Saints

I'm voting Funeral which puts us at 18 for Funeral and 9 PTSD. I'll let it go to the end though.

 

What are we doing next?

 

With no more votes I Just Want To Sell Out My Funeral wins The Greatest Generation. I will post the championship bracket which will incorporate the winners of Upsides, Suburbia, TGG, and NCTH as well as the second place songs. Probably will do that sometime tonight giving everybody the weekend for the first round.

 

Alright people time for the finale. The Wonder Years brackets are coming to a close. As always reasoning and explanation for your choices are appreciated in hopes of better discussion. I've included the champions of each album along with the silver songs to mix things up a bit and perhaps give some of them redemption and a chance to win. Voting will go from now until 5PM EST 28-August-2017 in order to give people the weekend to listen to the song and figure out their favorites.
