Probably too late, but get the LiveNation app and they'll give you a $20 code for any show! Got both of my tickets for $24 total!
I love I Was Scared And I'm Sorry, probably my favorite of the b-sides/deluxe tracks they've ever done, but nothing else from The Upsides era resonates with me as much as Washington Square Park does. Not to mention its easily one of their best live tracks between the band's performance and the crowd reaction. That could never not be my final pick for The Upsides. ----- Morning Polls I Was Scared And I'm Sorry (9) Washington Square Park (13) ------ It flips every couple of posts so I wouldn't be suprised for IWSAIS to pull out.
Same here. But, as I'm sure you know, for those unfortunate few it basically doubles the cost of the ticket.
Hell yeah! So glad I got this code right before my rent was due for the month lol. Definitely feels a little better
Washington Square Park. Not only is it a fucking great song, WSP has been one of my favorite parts of the city for as long as I can remember.
I've always thought the same. Especially if you read their AltPress cover issue that came out before NCTH.. goes more in depth on the No Closer to Heaven theme. That song is so strong lyrically, felt like delivery could've been better. Also, my vote is for Scared and Sorry.
Alrighty guys. Washington Square Park has won with 17 votes over I Was Scared And I'm Sorry's 11. I'm taking a bit of a break for the weekend but we'll continue this tournament on Monday with No Closer To Heaven, figured it's good to get the thread a bit of a reprieve In case anyone wants to talk about some other stuff. Washington Square Park will be moving onto the champions round. Check back on Monday to continue the festivities.
Funny you say that as he literally laid on the floor of the vocal booth in the dark for like 20 minutes before tracking that vocal. Evetts put the mic right above him. We also sent the vocal back out through a small Fender combo amp and mic'd that using the spring reverb for parts. I actually really like it, but can understand why someone might not. :x
NTCH, the song, is such an interesting way for TWY to close an album, in my opinion. Here we have one of the best bands around at writing sweeping, epic closing numbers and they defy expectations by closing that album with an incredible acoustic track with some truly standout lyrics. I respected the hell out of that decision, honestly.
fuck, voted on the first one and missed the rest... well i'd vote for WSP on all of them so it's fine. will be here for NCTH to vote "The Bluest Things on Earth" to death. new "There, There" is sweet, thought it wouldn't have drums so i'm satisfied.
this is why i love having you on here, just for little tidbits like this. would love to have all you guys be around but as you said seems like the others dont care about the internet or forums too much. i hope you know a lot of users on this site still love you guys and what you do i actually LOVE NCTH title track and how it sounds. like Dans just over it, but not in a defeated "i give up" way but in a "well, this is how things are and all i can do is keep pushing forward" kind of way. its the same feeling i got from I Just Want To Sell Out My Funeral just a lot more somber
"they flooded a town so this park could exist" always gets me in that song and it really got to me when i heard it live.
